1. Ctrl home displays hidden side bar & bookmark bar - MOST ANNOYING

   It is already extremely annoying to hide elements in Acrobat.

   For reasons only known to your idiot design team, you persist in the view that the UI MUST BE RESET ON EVERY DOCUMENT LOAD.

   I read > 30 PDFs in a DAY. FOR EVERY ONE, I have to hide elements of the UI (typically the left side). EVERY F*** PDF.

   Today I find that hitting Ctrl-Home re-displays the full left bar.
   WHY.
   WHO THINKS THIS IS A GREAT IDEA - Lets re-purpose a standard document navigation key into a UI state change.
   PG UP to the top page does the same.
   So it seems that the UI Gurus at Adobe though that when I go to document top, I wanted my UI settings overridden.

   STOP DOING THIS.

   Allow the user to setup their work environment AS THEY SEE FIT.
   DO NOT OVERRIDE THE USER's settings.
   DO NOT DISPLAY USER HIDDEN DISPLAY OPTIONS.
   RESPECT STANDARD KEY SEQUENCES in the OS environments and DO NOT OVERRIDE OR OVERLOAD the operators.

   Get a new set of UI designers.

2. Connect Google Drive: "Shared With Me"

   As of this post, Adobe Reader allows for the option to connect your Google Drive account to it, to view pdfs from the "My Drive" folder (on Google Drive) on the Reader.

   Description of desired feature:
   I would like the option to view pdfs in folders that are in the "Shared with Me" folder of Google Drive along with the ones in "My Drive"

   Why this feature is needed:
   Increases the utility of the Adobe Reader on Google Drive.

4. Allow the clicking of the mouse wheel to enable scrolling via the mouse.

   With all the programs I have tested I can click my mouse wheel and enable scrolling by moving my mouse. With Adobe Reader when I click the mouse wheel a hand icon appears with four arrows. As long as I hold the mouse wheel down I can scroll the document. What I am asking for is that the program have the feature so that I can release the mouse wheel and be able to scroll. With other programs this works until I depress a button, move the mouse wheel, or click the mouse wheel which resets the mouse scroll.

5. Bug: Adobe Reader "save" prompts "save-as"

   I am having an issue when saving documents in Adobe Reader, when I hit "save" it prompts a "save-as" box every time which required me to navigate to the document to save it. This is happening for me on windows 10. I've uninstalled and re-installed the program and am getting the same issue. Thanks

6. Single Purchase Option for Occasional Users

   I would like to turn a certain PDF into a .jpg and I do not anticipate a need to do this again in the near future. Seems a little out of touch to expect anyone to pay $15.00 for a month and “potentially” hundreds of dollars to use a service only once or twice in a year.
   On your most economical plan, Adobe receives about half of a dollar per day and allows an unlimited number of document conversions , as well as other services.

   Adobe should offer an alternative payment schedule of $1.00 per document,
   up to, $3.00 for a 24 hour day of unlimited use.

   This would be much more inviting to the casual customer and there is a high likelihood of more than 1,000 people per day wanting to use a pay-per-use service rather than long term commitments.

7. Read Mode default

   I was asked to create a document in such a way that when it gets passed along it opens in Read Mode instead of with the comment, fill &sign and more tools panel open. Apparently that can't be done.

9. Bug: Links to a rotated page fail to hit the right page

   With pdflatex we've created a document with a single rotated page. We've tried several PDF viewers, which work as expected, but Acrobat Reader (tested version 2024.001.20604 and some others) jumps to the wrong page when any of the hyperlinks are clicked on the TOC, the navigation bookmarks, or in the text.

   We've created a MWE that can be generated in overleaf (https://www.overleaf.com/read/yfwhpwjdcfvk#3d8e17). I attach also the PDF document showing the problem.

   Other PDF viewers tested, which work fine are: okular, evince, google PDF viewer, Edge PDF viewer, some Android and iPhone viewers, which jump fine to the expected page. Acrobat Reader jumps to one page after the desired one, but depending on the LaTeX code (using pdflscape, for example), it might jump to the weirdest places.

10. BUG: Scroll bar disappears

    The app should respect the OS setting to always show scroll bars. Instead, the scroll bar disappears after scrolling even though the OS setting is to always show scroll bars.

    This is an accessibility problem and makes it impossible to drag the scroll bar with a pen.

11. New Layout is utterly counterproductive

    New layout of Adobe Reader is utterly counterproductive, and makes everyday use of Adobe Reader much slower and confusing.
    I, as well as many other users I know, am using Bookmarks and Pages in at least 95% of times when I use Reader. Therefore, they should be placed on the left, where they are expected to be (it is simply a standard for similar "master-detail" situations).
    Also, primary tools, like paging, zoom-in and -out, are placed in a bottom-right corner, just like they were hiding?! But these are the basic tools, and they must be placed centrally, either on top or on the bottom of the screen.
    On the other hand, toolbar with tools for commenting, highlighting, etc. is placed on the left side, taking unproportionally too much space on the screen, while it should be placed where toolbars usually are. I'm using these tools practically in less than 1% of times, so their current position is just annoying.
    There must be corresponding options, allowing users to customize positions of these UI elements, so we can place them to best suit out everyday needs.

12. Enabling Latex for Annotations such as Comments and Textboxes

    It would be great if comments could display Latex, i.e. rendering and displaying the math properly. Currently commenting with mathematical equations is a pain and just forces us to read the Latex source rather than seeing the rendered math.

    This might be easily added using a service like mathjax.

13. Commenting

    When commenting on files, I frequently switch between "add comment" "replace selected text" "cross out" and other tools. Now that tools are arbitrarily grouped together, it takes wastes time getting to the tool I need, especially if I have a document where I'm making thousands of comments.

    Please make the toolbar customizable as the new changes render the program much less functional. I'll be finding a new commenting program if this isn't fixed.

    Also, the toolbar should be at the top to make it much easier to reach. Please hire a UX person before making changes in the future.

14. Fix the commenting feature

    With the older version of Adobe reader in the commenting feature, I could highlight some text and start typing and it would automatically cross the text out and allow me to type to replace it. Now I have to manually select the function any time I want to replace text.

    Same with selecting text and deleting it.

    The update is not user friendly, and it's now taking me a lot longer to complete my proofreading jobs.

    Although there are 7 occurrences of the text of page, but on pressing enter for searching all occurrences it only highlights 4.

16. Bug: quick print fails to print (non-default permissions)

    Failing in 32 & 64 bit versions 2023.001.20093 and 2023.001.10143 on Windows Server 2019 Remote Desktop Session Host (untested on other environments)

    Brief: Users with print rights assigned via a group, not direct permissions (see caveat below), quick print will open Reader but does not send a job to the printer (only Acrobat Reader, file types to other apps quick print fine)

    Extensive details (I have procmon captures too)

    Normal printing works fine. If they open a file with any application and file > print or CTRL+P etc. it prints successfully. Quick print opens Acrobat Reader, but in non-working scenarios the file doesn't ever show up visible but the recent says it was opened just now (working scenarios you see it open for a short period)

    Environment:
    - Windows Server 2019 Remote Desktop Session Host server with printers installed locally
    - Everyone group removed from printer and replaced by group user is a member of with print rights
    Note: this is a requirement, every printer cannot be visible/usable by all users.
    - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (latest patches) is default for PDFs
    - Outlook Quick Print, right click > Print, or a custom app trying to quick print PDFs opens Acrobat Reader but does not print

    Working Scenarios:
    - Printer has the LOCAL groups Interactive, Users, or everyone added with read permissions and print (read alone is not enough)
    - Printer has the direct Active directory user added with read permissions and print (read alone is not enough)

    Failed Troubleshooting Tests
    So far I have found no other working scenarios. I have tried the below, and probably much more, with no success.
    - User with nested membership to Active Directory Domain Local security group with read/print
    - User with direct membership to Active Directory Domain Local security group with read/print
    - User with nested membership to Active Directory Global security group with read/print
    - User with direct membership to Active Directory Global security group with read/print
    - Assuming maybe a background item needed permissions, I tested with the following built-in local security principals with permissions ranging from read/print to all permissions (local): Authenticated users, LOCAL SERVICE, NETWORK, NETWORK SERVICE, SERVICE, SYSTEM
    - Active Directory computer account with read/print, manage docs, and manage printer

    Important notes:
    - Acrobat Reader must be closed between tests or after a successful test, if you remove the rights that made it successful, it will continue to work. However, after closing and re-opening it will fail again.
    - Best I can tell, restarting the print spooler doesn't matter. There was a period where I was restarting it regularly.

    • Windows Server 2012 R2 Remote desktop session host, locally installed printers with the same version of Acrobat Reader DC works with non-default permissions. Same with Windows 10 network printing to a server 2016 print server (non-default permissions).

    Extra info + description of attachments:
    The larger image is a side by side of procmon during a successful test, user is directly there with print permissions, (on the right) and a failed attempt, user has print access via a group (on th left). The Spooler-Between.png is the exact same in both scenarios and occurs JUST before the other image deviates from one another. Best I can tell it's not helpful.

    The default printer has been set via the legacy way, modern way, and set to let Windows manage (acrobat closed, user logged off and back on) and the issue persists.

18. Unmodified annotations should not be reported as modified

    For the attached file, Adobe Reader claims that the stamp annotation (Object 129) was modified after the second signature. However it wasn't, that object wasn't included in any further incremental save. IMHO this is a bug in Adobe Reader, apparently related to the fact that the stamp annotation does not contain the (optional) /P entry. (Adding the /P entry solves this). This was reported to the PDFBox team and on stackoverflow in question 74836898.

20. Use system default cursors!

    It is absolutely unacceptable that the Acrobat Reader changes the system cursor, and doesn't allow for some method of disabling this!
    It shows that Adobe have ZERO respect for their customers.

    I have a vision impairment. I have changed my Windows cursor to a very visible, fat, red cursor, because otherwise I lose track of where it is. But Adobe's opinion on that is "********!!!!" apparently.

    Why?

    Why do you hate your customers, Adobe?
