Highlighting / Marking Text
Please create an option in Acrobat DC Pro for highlighting and/or marking text without also automatically creating a pop up comment.
Please let us know if the issue is resolved.

Highlighting feature is selecting an entire section, adding a comment - NOT allowing me to select a word or sentence. This is horrible!

Having the text in sticky notes appear on mouse roll-over (hover) is a nice feature; however, having an empty comment box appear every time the mouse rolls-over a highlight is very annoying. Please add an option to omit pop-ups on mouse over of highlights. If you're really good, you could have Acrobat DC Pro only show a pop-up on rollover of highlights for which there is text in a note.

ALL WE'RE ASKING FOR IS TO HAVE THE SAME EXTREMELY USEFUL, EXTREMELY VALUABLE HIGHLIGHTER TOOL WE HAD IN THE PREVIOUS VERSIONS OF ACROBAT PRO.
WE'VE ASKED NICELY. WE'VE BEEN PATIENT. WE'VE GOTTEN EXCITED WHEN WE SAW YOUR NOTES THAT THE SITUATION HAD BEEN FIXED AND IMPLEMENTED--ONLY TO BE ANGERED WHEN WE TRIED AGAIN AND FOUND NOTHING HAD BEEN CHANGED. WE'RE DONE BEING NICE AND PATIENT.
FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE, GIVE US BACK OUR ABILITY TO HIGHLIGHT A SINGLE WORD OR LINE OR ANYTHING ELSE WE WANT TO HIGHLIGHT, WITHOUT IT EITHER BECOMING A DAMNED COMMENT OR CREATING A HUGE BLOB OF HIGHLIGHTER ON THE PAGE! OTHERWISE, I THINK ADOBE WILL BE SEEING A LARGE PERCENTAGE OF THEIR ACROBAT USERS FIND A PDF EDITING PROGRAM THAT DOES GIVE US WHAT WE'VE BEEN BEGGING FOR EVER SINCE ACROBAT DC WAS RELEASED!!

Again, whomever Ammar is, they have never used this application. With the settings below it will continue to pop up unless you have the Comment pane open on the right side of the application. Again, you have only two choices, either allow the popups or have a giant pane open minimizing your document view. There should be away to disable both, not just one or the other.

Hi All,
In the latest version of Acrobat DC, the preference "Automatically open comment pop up other than notes" is working as expected.
If you still face problems, please enable "Hide comment pop ups when comment list is open". This will not allow pop ups when you work after launching comment app.Regards,
Ammar -

Totally agree with Julia's 10/10/18 comment. The Note pop up should not appear whenever text is highlighted. It is quite annoying!

The 'Automatically open comment pop-ups for comments other than notes' is disabled in my settings and comments are still coming up. I do a lot of highlighting and this is so frustrating!!
Grant's suggestion does not work, as mentioned in my comment above - which by the way, I copy and pasted from Kimberley's comment.
This started after the software update in Oct 2018.
IT IS INSANE! I use the Highlight feature more than any other in Adobe PC Pro.
I have ensured that the appropriate properties box is unchecked and rebooted my computer more times than I can count. I have lost HOURS trying fix this.
I'm currently on an accounting project that requires me to highlight each entry from the bank statement after entered into QuickBooks. I have thousands of these to do in a very short time.
And now I have this idiotic pop-up comment box EVERY SINGLE TIME I HIGHLIGHT TEXT.
HELP NEEDED IMMEDIATELY.

@Aduait Pokhriyal. Your Suggestion on May 4, 2017 does not work with the most recent update.

Can you please try:
Go to -> Edit -> Preferences -> Commenting -> (Disable/uncheck) Automatically open comment pop-ups for comments other than notes. Please reply if this helps.
