Bug: Have one standard icon for PDF bookmarks
Have 1 icon for bookmarks wether it is created by adding a new bookmark or combining pdf files.
If you need to add a new bookmark to a file you cannot get it to display the same icon as those created using combine pdf's. Unless they offer different functions there is nothing but confusion caused by having 2 different icons.

I think it's dumb to have a bookmark icon at all. My Acrobat 9 & X didn't need one, but now I have one and it contributes to what I view as a problem of TOO MUCH WHITESPACE. I don't need so much space between what I'm reading, and I'd like to have a simple option to change this. The entire program is unnecessarily burdened with hunt-and-click behaviors where I used to have hot keys. Stupid. Can you tell I'm old, work with hundreds to thousands of documents every day, and have no use for all the emphasis on optimizing for tablets? Yeah. Happy to have back a couple things that were broken over time, like e-mailing directly from Acrobat, but overall I'm not happy with having taken a performance hit since I have less use of hotkeys.

I would like to know what Adobe's reasoning is behind having the two different bookmarks.

@Phillippe Bruno, you are right! It should be included in Acrobat...

@Lumi, thanks for sharing this information. However, I do not see why one should pay $269 to get some functionality from a third party vendor that should have been in Acrobat in the first place.

If you want to change the appearance of the bookmark icon and you need the Plug In "Autobookmark". Once installed, choose Bookmarks-Modify bookmarks- Normalize bookmark Icon and it's done!

I fully agree with Carlin and all the others that enough users have complained to justify a fix. I understand it is not critical in the sense that it does not prevent us from using the application, but as mentioned by many, it does not look professional to deliver a document with two sets of icons. Moreover, readers of the documents often contact us because they are confused by the 2 different icons.

I think there is more than enough complaints about this issue to justify a fix for it. Adobe offers an amazing program to combine digital documents into one PDF. But to have it automatically create with one particular type of bookmark icon, while not allowing the creation of additional bookmarks with the same icon (or the ability to change all the icons at once) is ridiculous. Please find a fix for this so that the jobs of document creators can be streamlined, and time not wasted re-creating bookmarks to make it look professional. Thank you.

Ridiculous to have two different icons. And ridiculous to not be able to change where it links to. (set destination).

I agree, I just had to figure out for my boss why the icons looked different and also how to fix it.

I want to chime in also. This makes absolutely no sense. Why would Adobe even do this? Please fix this!!!

Yes! We need this option! It's unprofessional to have different icons on our specs that we send out. PLEASE FIX!

Just had a complaint from one of our engineers in our firm; we had a project with four contracts. Two separate admins working on them so maybe it's a difference in their adobe, I don't know. But three contracts had the double bookmarks which I had to look up why that was happening and the fourth contract has the original icon. We need to be able to change these so that our documents are cleaner and consistent with each other. PLEASE FIX! Don't wait for more to chime in because not everyone is going to find this; they're just going to be frustrated! Be proactive and make a positive, necessary change!

I fully support this idea suggestion
I like what another writer wrote:
I find it incredibly unprofessional to have 2 different types of bookmarks in my document. I hate having to recombine the document all over again when I need to insert a page, PLEASE FIX THIS.
The best fix would be to give an option of several bookmarks and let the bookmark be changed to any of them. (but default all to the same one whether manually added or added in the combine files function)

This feature annoys me so much I have started to use a different application for combining files.
What is the reason for this feature? It opens as normal bookmarks on other applications, so what is its purpose? Other than making things look so untidy . . .

It's really not professional looking to send out a document with 2 types of bookmarks in it. What could possibly be the rationale for displaying the difference between a bookmark manually added and those created when docs were combined?

Having two bookmark icons is confusing. The default should be that all bookmarks use the same icon. Two different icons just confuses the user. I don't understand when this would be preferable?

Give the ability to go back to the old bookmark style. That had the tree structure breakdown style with lines and such. The new non line floating bookmark arrows that go down and up is really non professional.

I would like this feature also. It would make a cleaner look.
