pdf forms exported as flat (non-editable) pdf files
I have designed forms that my staff complete & then we provide to external sources. I need these to export as a flat file & don't see how that could be accomplished other than export to MS Word & then to a pdf... kinda labor intensive!
It's quite easy actually...File:Save As:Optimized PDF: On the "Discard Objects" tab select "Flatten Form Fields". Easy Peasy!
The Save as PDF through the "Print..." dialog on Mac is now blocked.
It says that it needs an actual Printer attached to print the document.
For the suggestions about using Adobe Distiller, that didn't work on my side... it says that it won't Open .PDF nor .JDF files (that's as soon as the File->Open-> PDF file is selected for opening).
Rant: I'm so incredibly tired and annoyed at these things... counting the days until Affinity Suite side of things just clears the floor back to a clean start. The only program I'll be paying by then will be After Effects, I'll give props and credit where credit is due.
There's an easy way: https://www.sejda.com/flatten-pdf
It's unfortunate there's not an easy way to export a flattened PDF.
My solution was to re-build my PDF using Google Draw. If you have a simple enough PDF, this might be a great option for you, too.
It can easily be shared within your organization (assuming you use Google Suite) and can be exported to PDF in mere seconds. Good luck!
This really is one of the most frustrating oversights in the features of Acrobat Pro DC! Current version won't even allow me to use the work around print>Save As PDF. It's as if Adobe wanted to create a powerful tool but drive users freaking nuts by not being able to simply save or print a form to a flat pdf. I can't even export to a jpeg and keep the form field entries intact.
The only way to do this is to change security on the file. ADOBE, please listen and make this simple, but very helpful feature integration.
Please find attached
We have a similar situation where we would like to save a file that is editable and share the non-editable file with clients. In our security tab it states, Under security method it states "no security".

You can print the form using your .pdf distiller. File->Print->Adobe PDF (instead of your normal paper printer). I do this all the time, hope it works for you.
Yes please! I send fillable forms for clients, but they need to easily convert to flat in order to send it to print in a print shop like Staples, for example, that does not recognise fillable forms PDF.
Would be great if it could have an easy way to end users of Adobe Reader convert fillable forms to flat PDF.
thanks, Gaurav Sharma, this does work, however, I'm not sure it's any easier than exporting to word and saving as a PDF. appreciate your time and efforts, b
After filling form, by below process, you can make it non-editable :
1. File-> Properties
2. Go to Security tab.
3. Select "Password Security" under "Security Method" dropdown.
4. Then a dialog box open in which check the checkbox under Permissions head.
5. "Changes allowed" dropdown value should be set as "None".
6. Provide some password under "Change Permissions Password" text box.
7. Click on OK and again confirm the password entered.
8. Click on OK and save the file.
Now it will become non-editable.
Hope it works for you.
