Turn off text recognition / Disable OCR not only on scanned pdfs
So the thing is I work as a prepress operator and usually use the Acrobat for checking incoming files if they are print worthy or if the designer needs to change colours and stuff.
Sometimes there are elements, shapes that need to be moved and if we don't have the font or the file was made in Corel or other unknown program and the production is in a hurry the best option would be editing the doc with acrobat.
But since the edit page tries to recognise the pages it takes a LOT of time and with books and even flyers it crashes, makes vector based barcodes to raster 4c black images and kind of ruins everything.
I just wish if there was a disable OCR button.
I checked it for scanned files. Disabled it, but for no scans it still does the recognition.
As I checked the forums there are architect and other people who would LOVE this option built in.
I wish I could attach the rasterising effect, but my acrobat just keeps crashing.
Hi,
You can turn off OCR. Please go to the link https://acrobat.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/1176907-acrobat-tries-to-run-ocr-automatically-whenever-i

Thank you!
It seems to work.
Than it's maybe not crashing because of the text recognition.
