Bug? Acrobat doesn't support .ai files in Combine feature on PC but does on MAC.
I'm on MAC and I'm used to seamlessly combining .ai files into a .pdf easily with the Combine feature in Acrobat. Some of my peers would benefit from this greatly also but they are on PC and it appears on PC Acrobat can open and view .ai files but it will not acknowledge .ai files in the Combine feature. This feels like an oversight or bug since it clearly works fine on MAC. Can we please have equal support for this on PC as well? It makes it much easier for creatives to work smoothly with other areas of the business and enables non creatives to utilize these files easily for meetings instead of needing the creatives to make special versions of their work meant just for presentations etc.
Hi
Thanks for your feature request.
I am not sure how you are able to combine .ai files on Mac using Acrobat as we do not have this support neither for Windows nor for Mac for .ai files.
However, we have taken your feature request. It is under review.
Thanks
Tanvi

This feature would be very handy, currently acrobat std dc on a PC will let you work around the issue (dragging ai files into an existing PDF works) but wont let you do it using the combine feature. The workaround takes time and means you have to organize them within the PDF which is frustrating. As the program can open the file I dont see why it isnt able to do it within the combine feature.

Hello,
I too am having this issue - in my case, I am going from a Mac workstation to a Windows workstation and missing features that I used to have in Acrobat for Mac. I used to combine .ai files into a single PDF all the time in Acrobat for Mac and now cannot on Windows. This feature was a huge time saver for me and my workflow - it would be nice if Adobe could maintain consistency throughout platforms for the same experience no matter what the workstation.

Hi Tanvi,
That's really interesting that Adobe didn't realize this function. If you surf through the forums you can find other instances of others having this issue. It appears to be relatively common that MAC users use this function.
To be clear it's taking .ai files and combining them to become a multipage .pdf file. I've also given Steve Kilisky (our Adobe rep) more detailed information and screen shots of behavior if those details are helpful.
Thank you for following up on my inquiry. It's greatly appreciated.
