What about Acrobat Pro?

For the sake of accessibility, the document title is good to have instead of file name. But now the document file name is on by default and I cannot find an option Always Use Filename as Document Title in Preferences under Open document setting where I could change the default back to document title. Where's the problem?

This issue has now been solved - it's great! Does anyone have issues with 'adobe acrobat dc could not open because it is either not a supported file type... or it is damaged'? I have never had this issue since the update and now it happens multiple times a day!

Please add this option, nobody uses document titles and if you haven't created the pdf document (which is most often the case) filename is crucial as titles are often the same

For people who are saying an option is needed for Advanced Search, there already is one. I'm using Acrobat 10 and in Preferences/Search there is option "Show document title in search results". Uncheck this and the file name is used.

When you have multiple versions of a document open all with the same title, how do you tell which one you're looking at?

Please add this feature to Acrobat DC. It is not feasible to change the name of every file manually and the correct information must be displayed to be useful.

A workaround is to set DisplayDocTitle property in PDF file to false. This instructs compatible PDF viewers (including Acrobat Reader) to ignore the Title and use the file name instead. Coherent PDF provides a command line utility (cpdf) that can do this. To set a PDF's DisplayDocTitle to false:

cpdf -display-doc-title false <PDF file>

A batch file can be used to convert multiple files at the same time.

Please allow or default filename as a title. As more companies use automated systems to create documents, the document title seems to be populated more often. This makes viewing multiple documents (invoices, financial statements, serialized documents) next to impossible because they all have the same title. Our entire organization has standardized on authentic Acrobat rather than other products, but we are being forced to reinstall other products because the current Acrobat functionality does not allow us to function effectively. Time is of the essence here. Every day we switch more staff over to alternate PDR reader products.

Adobe, Regardless of version of Acrobat, whenever I open a PDF that came originally form a Word file, the wrong file title appears in the title bar above the page. Please fix this. It is maddening. I get sent documents from our admin people to put up on our webpage for all our employees and since I am not the author of the document I cannot fix it myself. It is a constant problem.

The request is here since 2019 and still there is no improvement about this issue. I am really surprised. This is really user-unfriendly option, especially business users ho work on mutliple files all the time. At least Reader should allow user to change via preferences.. The more surprising thing is (I hope the *planned* info above is correct) you are waiting to have more users ask for it?

Agree. I cannot believe that in 2020, and Adobe of all companies, we're moving backward with technology. You can set preferences for a thousand other things but it is IMPOSSIBLE to put the actual file name in the tab?? Or somewhere visible to users?!
