You identified this problem four years ago, yet it remains unresolved. Consequently, I've since switched to using Forxit because it offers vertical split-view functionality.

Since the computer screen is width > height, a vertically split makes much more sense.

Three years later, and it's still not possible, while it's incredible why they didn't do it from the beginning.

I would like to have this also. I have a Legend of a drawing which I would like to keep on the right side while panning and zooming through the rest of the drawing. A horizontal split doesn't work for this.
If vertical split is already possible, a horizontal split wouldn't be a huge implementation I guess, but it would be a huge help.

It needs to be vertical to view 2 text documents. I am used to a different pdf program where it is possible and make such a difference.
There is a work around that I have just found which is to go to the "Window" and "Tile" this opens a separate window instead of viewing the documents in the same window
