Shortcut for 'Add Note to Text'
A shortcut – ideally a keyboard shortcut – for 'Add Note to Text' would be very helpful for the editors and proofreaders among us. To select the text, right-click and find 'Add Note to Text' is cumbersome when you're using that particular feature more than any other (the Sticky Note is much maligned by designers and reviewers alike for not being specific enough to the text to which it relates).
It would also make lots more sense in the context of the comment-as-you-type functionality for inserting or deleting text, etc. Surely it would be logical to create an equivalent keyboard-centred shortcut for 'Add Note to Text' to save constant switching between keyboard and mouse clicking for markup?
A perfect solution would be Ctrl + Alt + M, which mirrors MS Word's shortcut (and effectively gives you the same function). And given it's likely to be used a lot by editors who are also using that shortcut in Word, it would feel natural to many. In terms of Adobe products, it would only cut across the shortcut in Illustrator for inserting a thin space, which doesn't seem a massive issue.
If not a keyboard shortcut, then at the very least a different Quick Tool button on the Quick Tool Bar (or even the nice new Quick Tool palette that hovers above text when you select it).

I am required to comment on documents of hundreds of pages and make heavy use of Actions for repeated comments. However, it is the unique or small sets of comments that prove to be very time consuming.
So further to this request, a key command sequence that provides for each of the annot types would be advantageous, or to have user definable keyboard commands since there are a largish number of annots. -

I heavily annotate my PDFS. I use color to denote very important or what I call THLs (Take Home Lessons). Using highlight puts in an icon that detracts from the appearance of an annotation. Using "add note to text" does not do so. I would like:
1. ability to add icon to Quick Tools menu for this function.
2. Give the user the ability to have multiple icons with different color choices when "add note to text" is selected
3. Give users ability to have different color selection for underline feature. -

We need to have this "Add note to text" button and it should work in the same way as in the mouse (right-click) menu. It is so much neater to comment on a text in this way than by using the "Add note to text" tool (written text covers the commented text), not to speak of the "Sticky note," which neither points precisely nor is securely attached to the place in the text it refers to (it can get displaced),
I regularly instruct authors to add comments on their PDF: (1) insert text, (2) strike text, (2) replace text, and (4) add note to text. 1 to 3 can be done by mouse menu, 2 to 4 by using the buttons. Can we have a system that covers all four please? Easiest is to add a "Add note to text" button. -

I fully agree with the suggestion. But wait, what does it take for Adobe to bring back the cute "Add note to text" button? It is so useful.
I learned that Adobe removed it because they thought it is redundant, and that the highlight tool is enough. But apparently the tool is so useful to many.
I hope Adobe brings it back, so that those that find it useful can still enjoy it. Those that find it redundant can simply ignore it! -

Wholeheartedly agree with the above comment.
For users who chiefly leverage the "Add note to text" feature, it is tempting to convert a given ".pdf" to ".docx" in order to leverage Microsoft Word's "Ctrl+Alt+M" feature. Please create a keyboard shortcut for the "Add Note to Text" feature.
