Do You Need a Federal EIN for Your Business Entity?
As a general rule, most business entities in the United States, including LLCs, need a Federal Employer Identification Number (EIN) from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). An EIN is a unique nine-digit number that the IRS assigns to businesses for tax purposes. It is required if the business has employees, if it is taxed as a partnership, if it is taxed as an S corporation, if it has a Keogh plan, or if it withholds taxes on income, other than wages, paid to a non-resident alien.
So, if Koshika LLC meets any of these criteria, then it would likely need to obtain an EIN. Even if Koshika LLC is a single-member LLC and does not have any employees, obtaining an EIN may be helpful for opening a business bank account, obtaining business credit, and for other administrative purposes.
