Bug: A comment containing only a space character cannot be posted
When adding a comment that contains only a space character, the comment cannot be posted. This means that it is impossible to mark up changes that involve inserting a space, or replacing another character with a space in an 'import PDF comments' (https://helpx.adobe.com/uk/indesign/using/import-pdf-comments.html) workflow in InDesign.
Please allow posting of comments containing only a space character.

Hi Riya
All of our proofreaders are now complaining about this.
We need to be able to insert just a space by itself. It's something we do all the time, and the typesetters import these automatically into InDesign, so we can't add a comment saying 'inert space'.
We also need to be able to have a space at the end of a comment or piece of text to insert, but these now seem to be getting deleted.
Can you let me know so I can update them if there is any prospect of this being put back to how it was?
Thank you
Alex

@Riya Saxena Thank you for the workaround of adding text such as 'Add space' in an Insert Text comment, but this does not help in a workflow where the corrections are being imported into InDesign using the Import PDF Comments tool.
In the InDesign Import PDF Comments tool, text in the comments of an Insert Text markup is automatically added to the text of the document in InDesign, at the indicated location, and the user is given the option to apply that correction with a button press.
Under the proposed workaround, pressing the Accept button in this case would insert the text 'Add space', rather than efficiently adding a space.
Please allow us to add a space or paragraph return directly in the comments of the Insert Text tool so we can efficiently implement the change in Indesign using the Import Comments workflow.
Similarly, trailing spaces should not be stripped from Insert Text comments. In an Import Comments workflow they may be deliberate, if a word is added between two other words, to ensure that the spacing of the new word is correct.

Hi Riya,
thank you for your reply.
I do use different tools to make comments like “Add space” or “Create New paragraph”, they do work for reviewers or designers, but this is not our issue. Our issue is that the designer that is working in the editable file in InDesign (original PDF source file) can't use the Import PDF comments function to automatically add spaces or paragraphs, as per reviewer comment.
The Insert Text tool is one of the best features that improves the work in different Adobe programmes. All of our designers just accept the comments in InDesign to make automatic updates in the source file, which makes the workflow fast, convenient and precise. Using Insert Text tool for description of the change that has to be made is in my opinion the wrong user decision. We have other tools to describe those changes, insert text should be only for precise texts swaps.
Thanks!

@Riya Saxena The problem is that it works horribly when I (as a proofreader) collaborate with a typesetter working in InDesign. Previously, I could e.g., add a simple space, or a word with trailing/leading space and a typesetter in InDesign could automatically apply the comment. Right now, he can no longer use "Apply all comments" option in InDesign.

With the latest release, we have added fixes to address some prominent concerns shared by users concerning review workflows. A Key issue was the confusion resulting from multiple empty text comments in the document. To address that concern, we have updated commenting and annotation tools to ensure that end users can continue to use markup tools like highlight, underline, and strikethrough without the need to add any text to them as these are self-sufficient markups. While for Text first commenting tools like Sticky Notes, Insert Text, etc. users must add a text (non-space character) in the comments field for the comment to get posted. With this change, you can continue to use the Insert Text tool and leave a text comment for reviewers to “Add space” or “Create New paragraph” to ensure that the feedback is understood unambiguously by all users

Hi! I have the same issue! I'm using Version 2024.001.20643 | 64 bit.
When I want to add a space or indicate that a new paragraph should be added, I use Insert Text tool. I click where I want to add space/paragraph, the general insertion caret appears and when I press space bar or Enter I can't post the comment. The insertion caret doesn't change when pressing any of those keys. I can't post the comment, either.I follow this instruction: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/mark-text-edits.html (section: Insert text).
As you can see on this image, I've added the space and the Post function is grey and not active.
I hope this issue can be resolved!
Thanks!
