HIGHLIGHTING / MARKING TEXT IN A PDF DOCUMENT
Adobe Case ADB-37893074-J2Y3
What we would like to have is to be able to highlight parts of a document (with the highlighter tool) without automatically creating a comment.
Alternatively, to be able to filter out (disappear) all the blank comments which have been created because we highlighted a certain text so that we only see the comments where we actually wrote something.
Consider this. When we were at school we used to get our highlighter pen and highlight the important parts of a book / article so that we can read them later. That is we wanted the important parts to stick out hence we highlighted them.
At times, we also wanted to write a helpful comment next to this highlighted text. However we did not always comment on the highlighted text. Some text was only highlighted so that it grabs our attention when we read it next time.
So what we ask is to be able to highlight text without automatically creating a comment.
When we work with PDF documents, we enjoy having the Comment pane open to visibly see the areas where we have added a comment. It is of no use to us to see a blank (having no text) comment.
At the moment we cannot filter out the blank comments, without 'loosing' / filtering out the highlights made in the document.
Kindly refer also to same feature request of May 2017 which remains unresolved to date.
