  1. When we add an image field in Acrobat pro and then save as reader (for client use) they cannot replace the image with a jpeg (normal format for pics) - can the java script be amended to allow this. Annoying as we can only create documents to be opened with Reader with editable text fields at the moment as editable image fields dont seem to work (unless the pic is a pdf and clients struggle with this). Any advice/ideas/workarounds appeciated. DP

  2. Attaching an example. I see the same issue in other posts but no examples or resolution. Can view filled out form if opened with Reader, Chrome, etc., but looks blank in Pro.
    Thanks.

  4. Hello,

The following issue appears to be Mac specific. This is not an issue on Windows machines, as all of my testing on multiple machines suggest it's only on Mac's.

    The short story:

On Mac's only, changing a text field format in Acrobat Pro DC (ex - changing to a date field) causes the field highlighting to no longer work on those fields that have been adjusted, and are fields that are shown/hidden based on checking/unchecking a check box.

    The long story:

I recently have been trying to troubleshoot a relatively minor issue that I can replicate when creating form…

I am working on a form inserting the date. I was hoping to add the day of the week with the date format. I checked on the format and went to the custom selection and inserted dddd mm/dd/yyyy. The hurdle I am trying to get past is, when I go to select a date, I receive a javascript error message telling me that it is the incorrect format that I should use dddd mm/dd/yyyy. I am JavaScript challenged, LOL. Am I missing a setting somewhere or something? Any guidance or assistance would be…

  6. Adobe needs to allow users to upload separate PDF files, which are from the same template, and not change the text. I am unable to change the text field because that will change the original document. If I have 3 products using the same original pdf. Adobe needs to allow me to check a box not changing the text. or locking each sheet as its own.

  7. I work for a municipality. I have to create numerous fillable forms that are posted online. A few years ago, Adobe had no problem turning these forms, created in either “LaTeX” or MS Word, into fillable forms. However, that is no longer so. Adobe is now unable to recognize “squares” or “boxes” used as checkboxes. This is a significant problem. Some of my forms have dozens or more checkboxes. Creating each one manually is a real chore.

There is no logical reason for this failure by Adobe. It did work correctly a few years ago. I am perfectly willing to…

  8. I want to use a Data Matrix Barcode field in a form in Acrobat Forms, like I do in LiveCycle Designer ES4. But here I get into trouble: DM-Barcode doesn't encode the German special chars! I get weird encodings instead of the char. The same entry in a QR-Code-Field works as expected!
Because ist works fine in LiveCycle Designer and in the QR-Code I assume this is a bug.
I found no solution to finetune the field to become German-friendly ;-)
I attach a quick and simple example-form (for use in Acrobat, not Reader, of course).

  10. I'd like to be able to enter in one fillable field "FirstName MiddleName LastName" and have it auto populate 3 fields for First, Middle, and Last. Or enter into one fillable field 123456789 and have it auto populate three fields with 123, 456, and 789. I've been searching for a script to do that and can't find anything.

  11. This bug is only for reversed out text, and only happens when Indd files are placed into another Indd file, before the PDF is exported.

The PDF is fine, until you go to program editable fields, at which point the hyphens and apostrophes all disappear. (This only happens for white text).

  13. I have been marketing my PDF forms with many graphics and buttons for about 8 years. The bugs caused by the switch to DC years ago was not backwards compatible—but eventually fixed.

The latest update to DC is acting very oddly. There has always been a lag for screen redraw but now my machine is “bouncing” and it takes several minutes to enter text in a simple line with 4 fields.

I rebuilt the form with less graphics with no luck. I’m working on a Mac with the newest iOS and newest version of DC. Any suggestions?

  14. Acrobat needs to be reinstalled to solve this issue. I had to call Adobe to reinstall. When I try to reinstall I get error 136. Once installation is complete issue is fixed.

This is the second time this has happened.
I have scripts that I reuse in JavaScript Editors for example Properties/Format/Custom/Custom keystroke script. When I try to paste the script nothing happen. It is fixed now as I reinstalled acrobat. Last time it worked for a month or so. Will see what happens this time. Hope it doesn't happen again.

  15. Not only does Acrobat need a Dark Mode, it needs to be compatible with fillable forms. Bright white screens are ******* the eyes, and it's not fair to our eyeballs to change the fillable forms box to BLACK whenever we change to custom colors to ease the glare from the screen. We can't see what we're typing, We need this feature!

  16. When a PDF form is seen on line or in a web browser there is a light blue background in fields , buttons etc. For what I use PDFs for (educational material ) it makes them unusable online which is a shame. It would be nice to disable this feature so that this is not seen

  18. I recently updated my Adobe license and noted that the new version no longer provides the 'Actions', 'Format', 'Validate' and 'Calculate' options when I create a new form. Have these functionalities been removed or am I not finding them?

  20. Acrobat DC 21.005.20048 (Win10):
    Actions taken:
    - Starting a PDF Form from scratch
    - Adding text with text-tool
    - Adding text-field
    - Adding checkbox
    Result:
Text and any other object cannot be selected at the same time, neither by box-select nor by SHIFT or CTRL.
Text does not appear in "Fields" list and can thus also not be selected there.
    - Cannot align text with fields or other objects
(Different text selected does not even promt the alignment-options)
    - Cannot move text with fields

    Proposal:
    - Make text selectable together with fields
    - Create a "label" object, which acts like…
