Acrobat steals window focus on file open (during actions as well)
As stated in the title, Acrobat is repeatedly seizing window focus and popping back on top of the other windows when it opens another file.
This even happens when running actions on an entire folder of pdfs.
I have been running a set of action sequences on a folder of about 400 files for the last few days.
My original intention was to start the sequence and then continue to work on other portions of the project while the pdf's were modified and saved.
Instead, acrobat grabs the mouse and keyboard back every time it opens the next file (about every 8-10 seconds).
This renders my desktop completely unusable while the automated sequence is running.
Hi,
We Havent heard of more customers reporting this to us so we dont have immediate plans on working on this request.
For now closing this thread here.
Thanks

This is still an issue! I try to do other things and still Acrobat brings its task forward especially when doing OCR.

This is a serious problem. Please fix this. It turns my desktop into an expensive paperweight if Acrobat is working on something.

Adobe Acrobat Reader 11.0.20 has focus problems:
(a) steals focus under many conditions, such as when dragging a file from one Explorer window to another, but in doing so passing over Acrobat.
(b) upon closing Acrobat, the last-used window is not refocused! Focus is simply lost. This makes many tasks more cumbersome (e.g., quickly opening and closing many PDFs in sequence). -

Seems like others below and I continue to have this issue. To recreate combine any number of pptx files and then try to use a program other than Acrobat Pro DC. I expect some kind of option to disable "View conversion result" but it does not exist.

This is really annoying and just plain bad design. Why does Acrobat is insist on stealing the focus for some many things? Espcially actions. The whole point of actions is that I can process 100s of files and do something else, not sit and watch.
Acrobat currently tries to force me to sit and watch

It's not just with action sequences or automation. Running the combine files function hijacks the computer until the combine function is complete, which can be many minutes. It's a process that doesn't need any user interaction, so there's no reason it shouldn't run to completion while minimized. I'm seriously thinking of chucking the entire Adobe Creative Suite because this renders the workflow unusable.

I have used every version of Acrobat since V1. This is the first version which pulls documents into the GUI when running an Action (AKA batch process in Acrobat 9 and earlier). Ayush Jain, as a Lead Software Engineer at Adobe, you should know this. There is no way to use Acrobat in a work environment anymore. Please include a configuration option to let it run processes without displaying the file in the GUI.

I am having the same issue. I have been on multiple threads today regarding the same issue:
I flat out refuse to believe that you have not had enough "customers reporting this".
I need the application to stay in the background until I am ready for it as all other apps do

Hey Ayush,
Adobe takes back focus to itself while a file is being Enhanced. Clicking on any other apps doesn't keep focus on that app. Adobe takes back focus It hijacks my PC.
Please reopen request to fix this 'bug'

Adobe could help by making Acrobat in such a way that it doesn't hijack my entire PC while running actions. It makes my PC unusable while the action is running.

Same issue here as others described. Only applications which actively refuse focus stealing (ie Chrome) are not susceptible to Acrobat putting focus on itself when combining files, or when running enhance scans. There has to be a fix and this makes automating large tasks very cumbersome not to mention the potential security issue. If it is an "automation issue" on adobe's front end UI, there has to be a way to mitigate it.

I have this issue as well. When combining files in Adobe Acrobat DC each time it moves to a new file in the list it makes the focus the Adobe Acrobat Window and I have to click back to whatever I was doing in order to continue working. I've had it happen repeatedly while I was typing this reply. It doesn't need my input and it's not visibly opening a new PDF each time so I have no idea why it is doing this but it definitely makes me want to recommend against our company upgrading to Acrobat DC. Thank you.

I get the same issue viewing PDF in an iframe. Adobe Acrobat Reader steals focus.

Acrobat should not steal focus, regardless of what it's doing. If it needs input, pulse in the task bar. Citing a bad design choice is not a solution.
Stealing focus is a massive security risk if it steals focus from a password window, on top of being annoying and disruptive.

I'm in the same boat. This is preventing me from working properly on my projects. The odd thing is that for some PDFs, it will quietly pulse in the task bar instead. Other times, it insists on popping to the front and stealing focus.

HI,
Thanks for Reaching out to us for your concerns.
If the Action sequence/Automation involves something that does something on the Acrobat UI, then i believe Acrobat would come in focus.
Let us know how we can help you further in this ?
