Optional setting to default to document title in Initial View
Currently, even though an MS Word document may have a Title property, when the PDF is created the Acrobat default initial view is to the document file name rather than the PDF's title properties. Since this doesn't pass the accessibility check it requires that the setting be changed on each PDF. I would like to see it either default to the Title property, or provide the option in the PDF Maker plug-in for MS Word.
Hi
This feature has now been enabled in Acrobat Pro DC with the October update but it is by default turned Off.
In order to enable it, you would need to create a Reg_Dword “4255031” and set it to 1 at the following location:
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\DC\FeatureState
Please note: This will work for only PDFs from Word/Excel which have been created using Acrobat post setting this registry and won’t work for older PDFs.
Thanks
Tanvi

Seem the solution \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\DC\FeatureState don't work.
Why not set directly in PDF Maker configuration by default? -

Grazie

This issue still has no solution unless one is comfortable editing the registry file on your windows computer. Which I am not. And our IT department will not let me do so even if I wanted. So, Tanvi, will there be a solution to this soon?
thank You,
Jason

Having users edit the Registry file on their Windows computers is NOT a valid solution. No ordinay user should be fooling around in one of the central files that operations the Windows operating system.
Don't understand why Adobe can't put the option to automatically set the PDF to "TItle." Why not, Adobe?

What if you have no idea what this means?
"create a Reg_Dword “4255031” and set it to 1 at the following location:
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\DC\FeatureState"

Chiming in with another request on this. For all the same reasons. Trying to train staff on creating accessible Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio documents. Starting with this remediation piece. Only to have their efforts thwarted because Acrobat defaults to file name. And unfortunately, most of our staff do not have access to Acrobat Pro. Thanks for your efforts!

And it's so easy to do this in InDesign. In the PDF export utility in InDesign, the designer can select several properties to be built into the PDF, such as making the Metadata Title the default.
Would be nice to have this same capability in MS Word, too, as a setting in PDFMaker.
S.Nelson's comment is spot on: people spend a lot of time making their Word documents accessible, only to then have to fix the exported PDF. What's the point of doing it right to begin with?

Yes, please. Our website editors work hard to set up their MS-Word docs correctly (and PowerPoints and Excel, for that matter), to meet accessibility standards ... only to lose their work and have to re-do it when they convert to PDF.
