Stop Comment Box from auto-opening
Adobe needs to stop opening comment pop up box once a PDF is opened. This occurs when I PDF after an AutoCAD drawing. I do not have administrative rights to download a patch or re-download the software. I just need the option to turn off in the Preferences dialogue box.

Riya's solution is correct. Jayne Searl, as Riya says, you have to "create" the new value - it's not already there. Make sure you close Acrobat, then open the Registry Editor. When you're at the right location, open the Registry Editor's Edit menu, select New, select DWORD(32-bit) Value, then give it the name bReplaceOnKeyDown. Double click it to open and check that it has Value Data of 0 (it should have, by default), then click OK. FWIW, I'm using Acrobat 11, not DC so I did it for that key as well. Close the Registry Editor (important), then re-open Acrobat. Tabbing should work normally (at least it does for me, now).

I was so excited to actually see a solution to this annoying issue, but got all the way to "Feature LockDown" and only had cDefault options available. No bDefault options to set value. Any other options? Like other comments, this is so frustrating and causes a significant slowdown in production. Ugh!

Hi Juanita
Sorry to hear that you are facing issues in using pdf with editable fields.
We are aware of the issue and this will be fixed in the upcoming release.Meanwhile as a workaround you can create the below registry
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\DC\FeatureLockDown\bReplaceOnKeyDown=0
Steps
1. Close Acrobat if its already open
2. Open registry editor
3. Traverse to the path: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\DC
4. Create a new key with the name FeatureLockDown
5. Inside this key create a new DWORD(32-bit) with the name bReplaceOnKeyDown and set its Value to 0
6.Close the Registry Editor and relaunch Acrobat -

I use Adobe in the Adobe Acrobat desktop version. I work on PDF documents that have editable fields to populate information and to use this, I am able to use the tab function to go through the fields to the next section. This week for some reason, and I am not sure if there was a new update, but when using the "Tab" function, in stead of going to the next editable field, there is now a comment box popping up random on my document for me to make a comment on. This is very frustrating as I don't need random comments on my PDF documents. I can also not turn off the Comment field because I use this function on PDF documents too. So how do I disable the pop up comment when using the tab function?
Thanks -

I use AutoCAD too and it's so annoying seeing comments pop up boxes all over my drawings. We use Adobe all over our many sites across the globe but this new feature is one that everyone complains about, especially when the drawing is opened online. I hope Adobe will try to resolve this issue.

I file electronic documents on a government website. 06/30/22 was the first time that I had my submission rejected because the Comment field was visible. Was this a change by Adobe? Now I have to remember to go into the Preference field every time I need to file. Is there a permanent solution to this issue or do I have to do it on everyone of my PDF documents?

I haven't totally verified yet that this 100% works but I think Priyanka's instructions below work it's just that it's missing step #4:
4) Scroll down to the bottom and click "ok" -

How do I make these comments stop showing in a Browser window when a PDF form is posted on the internet? I want the Highlights to show users which fields to fill out out, but don't need the empty comments window for each highlight to show automatically. It just confuses the end-user.

Yes. Theses instructions from Priyanka in a comment below do not work for me:
"
1. Launch Preferences dialog.
2. Select Commenting from Categories section in Left side.
3. Uncheck the checkbox for "Show comments pane when a PDF with comments is opened.
"
The checkbox was unchecked, I closed and opened Acrobat, the pane still auto-opened, the checkbox is still unchecked. Repeated steps, same result. -

"Show comments pane when a PDF with comments is opened" is not an option for me to choose. I don't know why just started within this PDF file but every shape I use now has a comment attached. Don't want this.
