Tab order feature
The field view is entirely too small to manually edit tab order. This should either be a separate pane or perhaps a pop-out window. I easily have over 100 fields on one page and it's impossible to order them as I need to (by column, within a section or rows of fields). Default tab ordering structures (By Row, By Column) are not useful here. Need more flexibility to set tab order manually.
I have forwarded your request to engineering. It will be picked up after prioritization. We will contact you if we need some more information on this.
Thank you for your patience

Please Prioritize - this is a key component of Acrobat.
There is a simple temporary fix - if the pane could pop out and be resized, it would be far less complicated to work with the tab order when field names are longer than 8-10 characters.
More permanent upgrades are also necessary, the current options of reordering by page are still too coarse for most practical applications. Perhaps the ability to select a block of fields and reorder those by either column, row OR alphanumerically.
THIS NEEDS TO BE PRIORITIZED

Why has this remained unimplemented? The drag and drop from the sidebar method is not efficient, especially when converting a document into a form for the first time where a lot of checkboxes exist in a non-linear layout. The click to set tab order OR click and enter tab order number method should be implemented and quickly.

Setting the tab order is pure pain. The fields pane is way too small to work with effectively and there is no option to expand it. It would be great to be able to manually set the number on the item in the page as part of the item's properties. Or even better, tell adobe to watch the order in which I click each item and use that to set the tab order.

Why can I not just type in the tab order I want? This dragging and dropping is ridiculous. I have 400 fields in my PDFs and I cannot take the time to drag each one.

Setting the tab order in Acrobat DC is extremely tedious. It used to be easier in previous versions where you could use Ctrl+click and select the order. Why making the process more cumbersome and less user friendly in new versions?

A workaround is, if you still have an Acrobat 8 or older around, open the form and set the tab order in that application.

This seriously needs to be implemented. Setting tab order by manually dragging and dropping field names is entirely too cumbersome on large forms. There is way too much brainpower being exerted just to figure out tab order, as opposed to a simple "Click the Order" mechanism that existed previously.

In Acrobat 9 and higher, the "set tab order" function is very cumbersome as opposed to the previous method of just clicking the field in the order that I want to set the tabs.
I have a form that has 210 fields and dragging them in a list is very tedious and in some cases, the order changes randomly and I have to start over.
