Make Comments Toolbar Open Automatically/By Default
I would LOVE it if you folks could make the Comments Tool auto-open and/or by default somehow. I open lots and lots of pages every day and it would be really wonderful if the Comments just opened every time I opened a new doc.

The fix does work but only for half of the problem. Why limit the automatic activation of the comment toolbar to files that already contain comments? I'm sure that will help a number of people, but those of us who actually mark up files using the comments toolbar are still at square one. Please, please, please make it possible to have the comments toolbar open automatically regardless of whether or not a file contains preexisting comments.

The implemented fix for this does work as described -- thank you! -- BUT this functionality would be most useful if the commenting toolbar could be set to open for *all* files when opened, not just for files with comments. (In my situation, I use Acrobat mainly to comment on files that do not already have comments, so I end up having to open the commenting toolbar again and again.)

In case comment app does not open by default for the first time, please follow the steps:
1. In Acrobat, go to Edit > Preferences (Windows), or Acrobat > Preferences (Mac).
2. Under Commenting, select the option – Show Comments Pane When A PDF With Comments Is Opened. Click OK.Kindly try it out and let us know your feedback!

It is far more better to have adobe reader just like photoshop or indesign with the ability to make one's special user interface, like essential or personal,..

A setting that would allow a user to designate the Edit Tool, for example, so that the Edit Tool would open automatically whenever the user opened a PDF.

Comments should totally be a default setting you can choose to always have that side panel open. It's annoying that it is not already an option.

Yes please. My prior version (IX Pro) did have this sand I miss it every time I open a pdf.

Also agree. I need to see comments on the majority of PDFs I view. If nothing else, it should be re-opened when I have "Restore last view settings when reopening documents" clicked and had comments open previously.

It should be possible to set a default selection or viewing tool on startup. (Other than selection or hand) Currently you need to select other tools with shortcuts or other actions.
According to this thread: https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1461704
This functionality is not part of Acrobat currentlyIt would be useful in my line of work to have the loupe or marquee tool be the default when opening a new file or restarting the app.

For the tool "comment," please allow users to keep that toolbar open, even when opening new files. It is a huge pain to keep clicking every time

Yes, please!!! Modernization of a program should not result in loss of functionality and more steps to accomplish a task. Having to reactivate/reopen the Comments toolbar when opening a new file may not seem like a major ordeal, but when you work with multiple files throughout the day (every day) it can wear on your nerves.

As an instructor, I am hearing this as a request from more and more people, plus it was discussed on the Tech Wednesday this week. People don't know there is a panel and go lamely searching for the icons, missing many. Adding the Comments panel to Initial View should be a JDI.

Is Acrobat "extensible"? In other words, is it possible for non-Adobe people to write add-ons/extensions/macros (whatever you might call them) that modify the behavior? If so, perhaps someone could write one for this.

It would be nice if that grey "tiny little right-pointing arrow" was a more visible larger yellow side tab labeled "Comments" that could be clicked to open the right pane with comments selected.
- Single clicking could open the pane to the previous width set during the program's current session.
- Clicking and holding the tab, then dragging the tab leftward could set the pane's width.
- Double clicking could open the pane to a default width for the program (e.g., percent of screen width).
After the pane is opened, the tab would be replaced by the tiny triangle - which itself would be replaced by the tab when the pane is re-hidden.
