need to be able to have a link open a 2nd new window so reader can keep their place in original location
I publish gov't docs for public review. For reasons too boring to explain, I now have to put the figures that go with the text in an appendix way at the end of the pdf and not just on the next page where they are referenced in the text. So now the figures are at the end of the pdf. I want to Acrobat to add a feature that would open a new window for a link within one pdf. This would allow the public to clink on a link to a figure, open the figure in a separate window and let the reader keep the original window on the page of the text they were linking from. I could do this if I publish 2 separate files -- one with just figures -- but I want to give the public just one file to keep it simple as possible. Acrobat Pro only allows me to link the reader from the original page to the linked page without a way to get back to the previous location where they linked from. So the reader is going to get lost somewhere at the back of the file. I've been trying to do this since 2014 and, today finally Adobe Support told me definitively that it can't be done. I want to be able to publish one pdf for the public and not have them get lost trying to find their original place before were sent on a linked to another part of the document. What I want is a "back" function for the link. Attaching a file with the figures to the text file doesn't do away with the need to send out two files. So I new a "new window" feature for internal links and a "back" function to go to the previous page before linking. Thank you.

Ayush. Acrobat can't do what I need it to do and it's now too late. So, no, no further concerns.

Hi Wendy,
There does not seems to be an option right now for your use-case.
Though as we have previous view option after clicking on the link, it is helpful for the user to navigate in a PDF with links. Thanks,

The pop-ups I want in a separate window within the same file not another locally available file. I would like a link that opens a pop-up with another page within the same file.

@Wendy you will get that option while creating a link in locally available files and not for files on DC. For that just try to make a link and you would see the pop "Specify Open Preference"

Hi Ravi,
I hadn't noticed the return to previous view before - thank you for that.
However, I did not understand this part of your comment "There is a setting already available where we can specify the open preference while creating a link in a PDF with header of pop-up as "Specify Open Preference"."
I can't figure out how to get to this option. Can you help me out? -

Hi,
Thanks for reaching out with your valuable suggestions.
There is a setting already available where we can specify the open preference while creating a link in a PDF with header of pop-up as "Specify Open Preference". Also, whenever user clicks on a link and user is moved to that link.User can right click on the pdf document and click on "Previous View" to move to the previous view("back").
Feel free to let me know if this does not solve your problem.
Thanks
