Bug: Shadows disappear on Windows 10 explorer windows
Adobe Acrobat DC keeps turning off the shadows of my explorer windows. Changing the theme in Acrobat doesn't help.
Workaround if you encounter this problem:
- Windows key + r
- Run: sysdm.cpl
- on Performance -> Settings
- Under Visual Effects tab -> Show shadows under windows -> Apply
Probably repeat after restarting Acrobat
For me, this problem is very easy to reproduce.
Shadows are turned off every time I open "Annotation" tool. It may not be the only cause of the problem but I think it's a good location to look at.

I've had this issue and even with tabs, it still does it... insane
I have seen several people report that having DC open PDFs in tabs solves this issue for them. It does not work for me unfortunately.
I had always used the tabs settings from the beginning (it is on by default). I have toggled it back and forth, the shadows are always removed when I open a PDF.
I am on Windows 10 Version 1903 Build 18362.476. If you're on a newer version and the tabs setting fixes the issue for you, can you let me know?

Took me quite a while to figure out what is causing that problem. As said, reapplying it is not a really good solution. I realized though that this only happens if you do not open the PDF documents in Tabs. If you go to Settings and enable "open documents as new tabs" then it does not happen.
Not perfect though...

Indeed, I faced the same issue. Workaround do not help very much. Re-applying the shadows under "Visual Effects" tab only works until Acrobat opens a new PDF file. It is very inconvenience to re-apply the shadows after each PDF file.
