  1. (Acrobat Pro DC)

Suggestion: Add an on-the-fly "Form Field Detection?" checkbox above/underneath the "Requires Signatures" checkbox.

In previous versions of Acrobat Pro, on clicking Create Form, there was an on-the-fly option to "Detect Form Fields? Yes/No."

In DC, this option is changed into a default setting that always applies.

Accessing it first requires reading the fine print (which I missed the first three times); clicking the link to the correct section of Preferences, finding the correct setting, and then checking the box. In total, 3 clicks to change a hidden setting.

While I think it is a good idea to…

  2. Currently retyping each drop down menu on each document prepared. Would be handy if we could save this drop down menu and add to each new form.

  3. Please create a feature so that Microsoft excel can be used as a data source for merging fillable PDFs form.

Customers are asking for this feature, please incorporate an easy to use (without needing to write script) solution.

The common community forum answer when customers are looking for this feature is referral to a 3rd party.

We definitely want and need this to be incorporated into Acrobat.

    Thank you.

  5. Why can't i talk to an expert about the issues I'm having? All the tutorials are much too basic and scrolling through all the reams of posts is exhausting and never results in an answer. I need advice on how to save a pdf. file with radio buttons and fillable sections so i can send it to a client for completion. Why is there no detailed best practice on how to use pre-flight so that forms work for your clients?

  6. I built a fill-in form using a PDF template. Turns out the PDF displayed incorrectly for one of my users, so I created a replacement template PDF. When I switched it out, all my fill-in form fields significantly moved. Would love a feature that would allow the fields to be locked before replacing template. Thank you.

  7. While comparing PDF docs, most of the differences are not the real ones, but due to font, fill, color, size. How would I avoid getting differences due to the above reasons.

  9. I would like to see a "transform" capability similar to InDesign, with a panel or set of boxes in which the actual pixel X & Y coordinates, as well as the dimensions of an object, can be precisely set. Currently, the resolution on this type of placement appears to be set at 2 points, and I would like to be able to fine-tune that to pixels or 10,000ths of an inch as I can in InDesign. That's the basic idea, but read on for rationale.
I work mainly in InDesign to create pdf forms that I then take into Acrobat…

  10. Can only change tool tips for one item at a time. Have to change dozens from previous form and can only do one at a time. If copy / paste have to change the name so they won't be linked.

  11. Adobe Acrobat Pro needs to have the ability to create expandable text field forms that allow the text box to expand when the user types similar to what you can do with Livecycle.

This is a feature that has been requested a lot online. Currently Acrobat Pro only allows multi-line text field forms with a scroll bar, but you cannot create an expanding text field form that increases in the height of the text field to accomodate more text.

The functionality to create this even in Livecycle is too clunky and complicated to use.

  13. I'm trying to open a PDF file and it shows me that it's going to open and then nothing happens. I tried to unistall it and then install it and there's always an error appearing saying that I'm not able to have access on this device, path or file and that maybe I don't have the rights.

  15. My tab order is correct under "prepare form" but when I preview it is incorrect. The issue occurs when I tag the document. I am unable to change the tab order. If I try to change the reading order by dragging items around other items will jump around and it creates a mess that's worse than what I started with. I have to choose between an untagged pdf that is a fillable form with correct tab order or a tagged pdf that is still technically a fillable form, but with a weird reading order and tab order. Please fix this.

  16. If there was a refresh button maybe that would help. As it is now, I have to get into to Form setup and back out again, or keep on clicking on various fields until the correct values show up.

  18. There has been two major releases since Acrobat 10, yet there has been no update to the JavaScript engine to support newer version of JavaScript since version 1.8 that came with version 10 of Acrobat, as stated on the latest Acrobat DC JS API reference. Please update the decade-old-JavaScript 1.8 to the latest ECMAScript 2019 in next major release of Acrobat. Thank you for your consideration.

  19. In your next update, please include the option to save documents (from programs such as Microsoft Office) DIRECTLY to password-protected pdf forms. It should be unnecessary to open the pdf's in the Adobe program and then create an additional level of security. The current system requires too many steps, which is neither time- nor labor-efficient. You already include the ability to convert to pdf directly from these programs, so please add the option to convert directly to a password-protected version. Thank you.

This feature already exits with Word for every PDF that required password excryption.

    1. Create your document or open an existing PDF document using Word
    2. From the File menu select Save As
    3. Browse to a location to save the document
    4. Select PDF (*.pdf) as the document type and click the Options… button
    5. In the PDF options section check the Encrypt the document with a password option

  20. Sometimes I already have an underlying form in use (one that has check boxes) that I want to make fillable. Since the form already has check boxes, when I add a check box using Prepare Form, the borders can look chunky if I don't get the edges perfectly aligned. Making the fill and line transparent will still fill my underlying check box (part of the form design) but won't try to add a new box overlay.
