I have over 400 individual word documents that I must combine into 1 single PDF. Do you know how long that is going to take me?! This has been in the "PLANNED" stage for over a year now. What is taking so long?

Acrobat on my computer is missing Microsoft Office Word from the list of programs/file types in the Preferences > Convert to PDF settings list. Other Office products are included. As a result, it will not recognize word docs as files it can convert. I cannot find any way to get Microsoft Word added back into that program/file type list. The problem started in Acrobat 2017 (might have occurred with update to Office 2016 recently), but persisted in DC. I read in another forum that someone identified Skype as the problem (when Sykpe was upgraded, Adobe somehow had an issue), but no way to fix it other than removing Skype and reinstalling Acrobat.
As mentioned by others, converting each file through the Word > Acrobat tab is not a viable solution going forward due to the number of files to convert and combine.

Acrobat DC, Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus (Word 2016 MSO 32-bit). Switched from Acrobat Pro XI to Acrobat DC today. Trying to combine five Word documents into one pdf. Four of the five docs are nearly identical and created from the same template within two days of each other. Round 1: first three docs on list had "Error during processing (file skipped)" messages and last two processed without problems (2/2 split on the four identical files). Round 2: converted the one different file (first one on the list) to a pdf by printing from Word and tried combining again. Pdf processed without error, next three on list (including one previously processed without problems) had errors, last one processed without problems. Round 3: converted one of the previously unsuccessful identical files to pdf, tried again - file types in list were ordered pdf, doc, pdf, doc, doc. The two pdf files and the last doc processed without problems; the other two docs had errors. Just for the fun of it, Round 4: put the two Word docs previously converted to pdfs at the head of the list, as docs, with the rest of the list as before. So doc, doc, pdf, doc, pdf, doc, doc. Four errors: all of the docs except the last one. So pdfs combine without trouble, one doc (virtually identical to three others) never had errors, one doc went from not having errors to having errors, and three docs failed every time. Since the program doesn't specify what kind of error was experienced, I don't know why some docs succeed and others don't.

The only way to work with it - Save every office file separately as PDF and after this combine pdf files in one pdf file. This is not convenient and takes a lot of time.

and what sample of the file do you need? Acrobat crushes every time on every Office file when we try to combine files in Acrobat.

I did as requested (by Admin. Adobe) and ensured there were no running instances of Acrobat DC or Word and then launched Acrobat DC and attempted to combine Word files using the Combine tool. Upon attempting to drag and drop the first Word file into the "Combine Files" box, the following message appeared: Starting the application which created the selected document. Please wait...
Adobe DC got stuck at this stage. A force quit of the program was required and I needed to restart my computer.

As of an update to Adobe Acrobat DC in July 2017, Word docs (Office 2013 or Office 2016) are no longer able to be directly combined into a PDF file. Adobe Acrobat simply "spins" and states that it is converting the files, but eventually the program has to be forced to close and the computer restarted in order to use the program again. (Adobe Acrobat DC won't open again after this forced quit event.) Prior to the July 2017 update, Word docs could be easily directly combined into a PDF file using Adobe Acrobat DC.

Hi, Acrobat DC. Office 2013 Professional. I can't combine in PDF for example Word files. The Acrobat shut itself down. It's asking about Acrobat PDR Maker Office COM Add-in. When I activate this Add-in, the office applications shut themselves down including the Outlook. So, I have to Open each Word file separately, save it as PDF separately, then open them in Acrobat and only then combine them in one pdf file. This is just annoying and when I had Acrobat 9 , everything was working fine.
