This is happening to me also with the HP Officejet Pro 9010 printer. December 2022

I am using windows 10 with an HP Officejet 6820. The print dialogue showed the option to print double sided but when selected, the document still came out single sided. I eventually discovered that the printer properties were set to use the "Windows IPP class driver". I changed the driver to "HP Officejet Pro 6820" and the printer now prints double sided when requested.

I am having this issue. Was there no fix from adobe on this thread?

I have the same issue with my HP 8620; three page doc prints pages 2/3 double sided but the first page is one sided.

I am missing duplex preference option on 7740 network. Hook up with usb, and bang the option is available.

Printing the document backwards by default is an unwanted, but standard feature in the Acrobat Pro DC app. It is not really a printer/hardware related issue. I am using a Brother MFC-J6510DW which has built-in duplexing.

To those who have commented that they think the blank page on the back of page 1 is the result of Acrobat printing a "cover page", do the documents that this occurs in always have an 'odd' number of pages? If so, try the step below and your document should print fine with the blank page now being the back of the last page of the document.

As you will see from the screenshot, the Adobe help article on Printing double-sided (https://helpx.adobe.com/ca/acrobat/kb/print-double-sided-acrobat-reader.html) suggests that when printing using a Single-Sided printer you should, "Select the Reverse Pages option. In this scenario, the Reverse Pages option ensures that the page sequence is correct." However, selecting the "Reverse Pages" option is also necessary for double-sided printing to Printers which have the feature built in.

When you select "Reverse Pages" the document will print the document from page 1 to the end instead of from the last page to the first and place the blank page, in a document with an odd number of pages, after the last page instead of on the back of the first page.

I believe that one of the Adobe Acrobat updates somehow has set a default on Macs to insert cover pages (as though for a FAX) using blank pages as the cover page.

It is an Adobe issue in my mind because the user does not have an option to specify a default of "do not print cover page". The option is available, but only by going through the printer options at the bottom of the print page. There is no reason that Adobe could not let the user make this selection as a print default.

Two workarounds:

First and best:
1. Open Printer Dialog
2. Click on <Printer> at the bottom. Ignore warning.
3. Click on <Layout>
4. <Cover Page>
5. Select "Cover Page"
6. Where it says "Print Cover Page", Select <None>
7. Make sure you have selected the proper double-sided if that is what you are using.
8. Click on <Print>
Problem fixed (until next time).

Second Solution.
Insert a blank page at the start of the document. This inserts a complete blank page at the start of the document and then prints everything correctly. This is a permanent fix for that document, but does mean you have to pull the blank page from the front.

What this means:
Adobe + Apple are defaulting to a blank cover page when there is none. The fix is finding a way to resolve this.

FYI: This is not a printer issue. The printer has worked fine in the past with the same documents and it is not a PC issue (I know this because my PC using the same version of Acrobat (Pro 2017) has no problem printing correctly.

Dear Ritesh... regardless of what version of software you should be able to reproduce the issue.. it would appear multiple users have this issue. I have it with an old version of Acrobat 5 and an HP 4100 Laserjet on windows 7. Go to Word. Create a 3-page document and save to pdf. Go to Acrobat and send to print double-sided. You should get Page 1 on its own and then page 2 and 3 on a separate page back to back.

Printing odd number of pages duplex prints page 2 blank. Up-to-date Acrobat Pro DC, iMac and Canon MX 925.
Problem seems to have been around for a while!

I'm still very much experiencing the same issue, always when using Adobe on Mac. Double-sided printing is not an option within Adobe Acrobat DC, I click 'printer' leading me to my regular printer application and a bugged. I have nothing else to say that has not been said already. This issue has prevalent for years. I don't understand the continued confusion.

I have the same problem... page 2 prints on a new page even though the print request is for double sided print. From all accounts it seems to be a widespread problem when a document has an odd number of pages. I tried to print just page 1 and 2 of a three page document but it still printed pages 1 and 2 on separate pages! What a waste of paper. This issue seems to be ongoing for some years and I cannot understand why Adobe cannot fix it when it is affecting so many people.It is ridiculous that users have to create blank pages at the end of the document to make it into an even number of pages simply because Adobe cannot be bothered to rectify the issue. I've never seen this issue on any other Windows software I use.

Seriously flawed forum if no answer is provided by Adobe.

I am so distressed--I invested in an expensive new Canon laser printer in order to make completion of a difficult project less burdensome--and instead I am spending time I do not have trying to figure out why my Adobe pdf's will only print two-sided, which is unacceptable. There seems to be no way to undo this. I have to print one page at a time, which is a very laborious process. This must be fixable!

My workaround to this has been to print all but the last page two-sided, then print the last page separately. Annoying, but works.

I'm having this same problem with Canon PIXMA MG7520 and Acrobat Pro DC 2018.011.20038

Also a MAC user this has resulted in countless hours wasted and paper and ink! I have tried even number as well and it still does not print on the backside of the first page!!!!

Please fix this it has been an issue since 2011!!!
