Newly Installed Acrobat Pro DC Keeps Closing After 10-20 Sec Without Error Message
I just installed Acrobat Pro DC and the it keeps shutting down after running only 10-20 seconds. I can occasionally open a file quickly enough, but after opening file, Pro DC then shuts down. Went through Adobe troubleshooting (checked updates, Distiller, repair installation), but problem persists. Note that I did NOT set Pro DC as my default program for PDF files. My original Acrobat Pro XI is running fine.

I have tried all the fixes and none of them work. Is there a proven fix for this mess?

Please provide the pathway to the "Local Host Files" in order to add the three lines of code.

We just tried adding the three lines to our Hosts file and it worked for a few minutes then the same issue. Where is the local hosts file that you speak of we thought it was in the Windows/system32/drivers/etc. directory. I am running Acrobat Standard XI and the crashing just showed up last Thursday. Halloween Surprise!

Thanks to Bjorn Erik Larsen. Im a network administrator and his solution below worked great. I used this solution on Adobe Acrobat Standard 11 (XI). The only caveat is that you have to have administrative rights on the local machine to modify the hosts file.

Didn't happen at first but now it's constant, using ADOBE XI: open a pdf and in 10-15 seconds it will close. Switching the default to Microsoft Edge is NOT a solution for me. Please advise remedy for this deficiency. Thanks

We figured out that Acrobat does some checks towards Acroipm.adobe.com. Status indicated that this product was not supported anymore.
We added the following entries in the local hosts file:
127.0.0.1 Acroipm.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 Acroipm.adobe.com.edgesuite.net
127.0.0.1 *.dscd.akamai.net
And then it did not shut down anymore...Regards Bjorn Erik Larsen

I was able to uninstall and then reinstall via Creative Cloud and it seems to be working now, staying open.

I found out it was a failure to log out of the OLD version on Acrobat. Then, I used another computer to log in to Creative Cloud and transfer my login. Hope that helps. It had something to do with the Acrobat not being able to connect to CC and register your identity.

I'm having the same issue now of Acrobat DC shutting down after a few seconds. Before it was working fine but after the windows update, Acrobat DC doesn't recognize my subscription anymore. Other programs when converting PDF on Microsoft Word, it says that "Your request cannot be completed. Adobe Acrobat license has either expired or not been activated." Please fix the issue.

Just to keep this thread alive(?), I now also have this issue but my situation may be a bit more complex and unfortunately don't see a good resolution on this forum. In a galaxy far away, I purchased LR CC without Acrobat DC because I already owned Acrobat Std DC. Thus, I'm frequently reminded that there are updates to DC-- but the few times I've tried to update, the new installation assumes it has just installed a new copy of DC CC, reassigns me into Free Trial status, and asks for my activation code. Resolving this usually consumes 1hr+ to track down the original install pkg for Standalone CC and get back to work. SO--I've learned to avoid updating Acrobat DC. BUT now I'm having the magical-disappearing-Acrobat syndrome, usually within the first minute of opening, presto, it's gone without a trace. I'm speculating that that's just about enough time for an online activation check, a conflicting response, and then the plug gets pulled. Alternatively, the sinister software AI waits until I think I've got a stable window and have done ~3-4 actions to the document--and then pulls the plug for maximum frustration effect. On a good (bad) day, it may do this up to 3 times before it gets tired of the joke. Help me, Obi Wan Adobe.

I also have the same problem.
It only appears when using roaming domain profiles.
Logging in with a local computer profile works.A monitoring of the registry didn't show any keys that were added while registering the software.
Has anyone a clue about the cause of the problem?

Also, I can't get Acrobat DC to stay open, even when I "Launch" it directly from Creative Cloud. Repair / install / reinstall have no effect. I've tried "Eula.exe", closing the Application Manager and the re-starting it.

I am having this same problem. Acrobat Reader works fine, but Acrobat DC (on Windows 7) does not stay open. I have tried uninstalling reinstalling, signing out of Creative Cloud, Signing back in, Uninstalling with the AdobeCreativeCloudCleanerTool. Photoshop works OK and Reader works OK, but not Acrobat DC. My Creative Cloud subscription is active.

Hi
Offline activation is a one time sequence, once activated Acrobat will not require internet on subsequent launches. Please let us know if you are getting registration prompts after successful activations.

The problem, on my end, is due to activation. Our computers at work do not touch the internet. Adobe doesn't like this. There is an off-line activation sequence, but it doesn't come up consistently. I was able to "Off-line" activate several computers. However, on others, the program won't even allow give you the option to launch the off-line activation sequence..even if you provide the serial number. Adobe doesn't care if you have a valid serial number, they want to know who you are, where you are, and what you're doing...at all times. Just understand this...not everyone is on the internet, Adobe. You should provide a consistent method to allow for off-line activation. It shouldn't take 3 hours to load and activate your program. This should be a warning to everyone. They used to ask you to activate to stop pirates from acquiring their software free. However, when valid customers who aren't connected to the internet have go through all this ****, it just shows what software companies are doing to ensure you are ALWAYS reporting back to "The MotherShip."
