Turn off text recognition / Disable OCR not only on scanned pdfs
So the thing is I work as a prepress operator and usually use the Acrobat for checking incoming files if they are print worthy or if the designer needs to change colours and stuff.
Sometimes there are elements, shapes that need to be moved and if we don't have the font or the file was made in Corel or other unknown program and the production is in a hurry the best option would be editing the doc with acrobat.
But since the edit page tries to recognise the pages it takes a LOT of time and with books and even…2 votesHi,

Create a default selection for "Pages to Print" selections: ie "Current page"
In my process of lien searches when I scan the completed documents, to prepare for the return e-mail to the customer, it is easier to scan all 20 - 40 items at the same time. Then I select each customer's document from the multiple scan and label the new pdf with the customer's name and search #. It would be expeditious to be able to have the "Current Page" selected without having to return the mouse to select it for each new pfd.

I used to be able to clean up my scanned documents by clicking the "spots" and deleting. Now I am unable to do this.
I was able to do this in the past. The most recent update must have removed the ability. I would select the "spot" or the edge of the page where the document feeder skewed the page in the scanner, then hit delete. Now I am unable to do this. I want to be able to present clean documents.
5 votesIf I am not wrong you are using edit functionality of Acrobat. There you can select the edge or small bounding ox and delete it if it is not required.
If not please use Edit tool.If you are facing any issue on any file please share the files.
Thanks.

Make field wider for correcting scanned text
When viewing and correcting scanned text, the field is so small as to not include the whole word. Also, it would be much easier to just retype the correct text directly in the document

Machine Learning Form Analysis
After OCR recognition provide a facility not just for correcting the text, but for meta-data labeling of fields and regions. This data would make machine-learned document management much more effective.
For example, the automated extraction of data from Insurance company EOBs. You might argue, of course, that this is not in Adobe's balliwick, but I'd argue that this is a natural addition to your commenting tools.5 votesThanks for reporting your concern.
For the first question, ability to correct OCRed text. This functionality is already there. Go to Tools> Enhance scan> Recognize text> Correct Recognize textFor the 2nd query I will raise a feature request for you. We will look into this and inform you if there is nay update.
Thanks.

Option to eliminate words with mixed number and letters in OCR
Provide a check off that functions to prevent the OCR from mixing numbers and symbols in words.
For example: Custodian should not be read Cu&t0d1an - only letters should be recognized in words.12 votes -
Deskew only works with compression on
I'm trying to deskew a PDF in Acrobat Pro DC, but it will only work when compression is on at the 3rd lowest setting.
When trying to go higher or turn compression off the deskew fails.PDF is attached and also here:

OCR Japanese (maybe other language, too)
This is a bug report.
In macOS,
'language' of application and OCR language have to be the same.
Otherwise it won't work.In Windows,
this bug doesn't exist.Details are discussed as following.

OCR in 2 languages. I index everything. Currently I have to hold two copies of files containing (for example) Chinese and English. A related issue is papers with special symbols. Lots of technical papers in English use Greek-letter symbols. Acrobat does an amazingly good job at reading Classical Chinese characters (slow, but worth the wait). If it can handle that, it ought to be able to handle multiple alphabets.

Acrobat DC Bug: Image copy out of Acrobat DC drops portions of image
Scanner produces PDF files. It is useful to copy sketches from PDF file into other documents by copying portion of the PDF - select rectangle and copy/paste. This worked previously in Acrobat Reader but drops partial image content in Acrobat DC. Try it with binary scanned image attached.

Even after removing text layer, Acrobat refuses ClearScan OCR because "page contains renderable text."
Even after I remove the hidden text layer in a PDF, I'm still not able to run an OCR with "ClearScan" (i.e. "Editable Text and Images"). It's strange because the text layer appears to be gone, yet running OCR produces the error "Acrobat could not perform recognition because: page contains renderable text."
1 voteHi Odysseus,
Can you please share the exact steps so that we can understand the issue completely?
Also, Did you try the steps mentioned earlier?Regards,

Delete pages(s) from open file while performing drag-n-drop extraction
When working with a scan set to be broken into smaller files, provide a key combination (like CTRL-Alt) to automatically remove pages from the scan set after a new file has been created from a selection using drag-n-drop.

Deskew of Lines of Text in Acrobat Pro
I am a theatre artist, an actor. I am sometimes sent imperfect scans of scripts for readings. I would like to deskew lines of text, in order to highlight them as seen in the attached screenshot. I am aware that OCR will deskew "pages" specifically, so they line up well. But in my work, I will occasionally be sent pages that aren't scanned as well as I'd hope. I cannot offend people by asking that they rescan the material, so I have to make the corrections on my end. It is difficult to highlight many lines in a large role,…

Adobe document error warnings
Adobe consistently crashes when performing redactions on large documents saying that there was an error processing the page and that the document could not be saved. No amount of applying or saving as I go prevents this problem, and I have lost hours of work on this.
