2. List Tag

   When creating a List structure, a "Create List..." menu/dialog box would be helpful. You could specify the number of levels and sublevels if need be, and Acrobat would automatically create the proper tag structure for that list. It is very tedious currently to manually create the tag structure with multiple levels.

   Adobe Reader reads dashes as "to" and not "dash." Not always accurate, my organization uses Figures denoted 3-1. this should be read "three dash one" not "three to one".

4. Acrobat DC accessibility standard - update to WCAG 2.1 please

   Adobe, PLEASE update Acrobat Pro DC's accessibility standard from WCAG 2.0 to WCAG 2.1. It came out a year ago, June 2018, but Acrobat DC does not yet support it.

   Government agencies now require 2.1 to comply with accessibility legislation: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/accessibility-requirements-for-public-sector-websites-and-apps

   Our accessible PDFs are mostly for government agencies. If Acrobat does not update soon we can no longer use it and will have to find an alternative. Can anyone suggest any good apps that validate to WCAG 2.1?

5. Accessibility Requests!!!

   Feature Requests / Bug Reports for the Accessibility features in Adobe Acrobat Pro DC.

   Adobe Acrobat Pro DC (Version 2018.011.20063) on Windows 7 Professional.

   For the Tags panel:
   1. Option to create Lists <L> tags with a set number of List Items <LI> tags instead of one at a time. Time wasted creating one at time.
   2. Option to created tables <Tables> tags with a set number of Rows <TR> tags instead of one at a time. Time wasted creating one at time.
   3. Stop forcing all the Tags folders to all be opened when opening a PDF file! Not efficient if having to reopen a PDF with an extensive Tags structure. These folders need to remain as they were when last saved!

   For the Reading Order Popup menu:
   1. Button to create List Items <LI> and List Body <LBody> for selected text. Currently have to manually change the tag for example <P> to <LBody>. Action Wizard is hit and miss with Lists, so I create from scratch many times.
   2. Button to create Links <Link> for selected text and/or images with a popup box for enter the URL while simultaneously creating its Annotation in the Content panel and in the Tags panel. This would save time.
   3. The Background/Artifact button doesn't work as it should. Items still go to the Tags panel.

   For the Content panel:
   1. Within the Page contents, the option to delete Annotations by selecting it and/or with a right click. This would save time.

   For Adobe Acrobat Pro DC software updates:
   1. Need a way to save my current customized layout so that when the software is updated, it is not lost. Time consuming to recreate with every software update. (iOS and PC).

   Translation of words/phrases inside the PDF:

   1) Mark a word
   2) Click right
   3) Select "Translate" from list
   4) Bubble with suggested translation for the marked word shows up
   5) Click anywhere on the document (other than the bubble) to close translation suggestion

7. dark theme for viewing a pdf

   acrobat should have themes for viewing a pdf like all the other pdf readers. I have Xodo for windows 10 and reading a pdf on it is much preferred then acrobat. I can select dark mode and it turns the background of the pages to dark and I can read at night without eye strain.

8. The accessibility reader tool is incomprehensible

   I tried to have adobe acrobat read a pdf for me today. I wanted to rest my eyes and listen to the document instead of reading it. I was unpleasantly surprised to find out that the 'reader' spoke in such an incomprehensible way, to the point that I could not understand 90% of what it was saying. I have to think that the technology to provide something better is out there. The 'reader' didn't follow the cadence of normal speech. It didn't know how to pronounce most of the words. I'd be one happy customer if the reader could be updated. Thanks :)

9. Accessibility: Comments not being read by JAWS & NVDA (PowerPoint Speaker Notes)

   Adobe Acrobat Pro 2017: I made an accessible PowerPoint presentation with speaker notes. I Saved As PDF and when prompted, I said yes to converting speaker notes to annotations.

   My blind 508C Consultant read the PDF with Jaws & NVDA & Adobe's built in screen reader. He was able to successfully navigate the entire document, EXCEPT Comments/Annotations. When the screen reader hit the Annotation Bubble it announced "Text" and nothing else.

   I asked him to search for a phrase that existed only in a comment and no where else in the document. He couldn't find it.

   As a government entity we post a LOT of reports for public viewing. Many of these reports were created in PowerPoint and contain a lot of charts and graphs that require additional explanations. We use speaker notes for that purpose. We need converted Comments/Annotations to be screen readable.

   We also publish many maps in PDF format. We would like to put a comment in the upper left corner that provides a phone number where someone with visual disabilities can call for assistance. Now we are finding out this comment is not visible to screen readers.

    Losing german äüö (Umlauts) and letters in the Structure Tree when using "Add Tags to Document" in Adobe Acrobat DC (previous operation Number ADB-3207012-T1M7) German Language Problem?

    1. Steps to reproduce the issue

    Export a text document with german words that contain german umlauts (äöü), e.G.: "für, können, öfter, mögen" as a PDF without tags from InDesign or Word
    Open the file in Acrobat DC
    Go to "Tags" and open the little menu and choose "Add Tags to Document"
    After the Structure Tree was created — save and close
    when you open the document again in Acrobat DC and you can take a look at the tags in the Structure Tree and see that the letters are missing in the tags. Not only the umlauts but sometimes accompanying letters aswell
    Examples: "für" -> "fr"; "können" -> "knen"
    Conclusion: blind people can't read these anymore and the document is not accessible anymore!

    The problem doesn't exist in Acrobat X and Acrobat XI.
    The problem occurs with any font and all operating systems.
    The problem was already documented with video and example-documents with the operation Number ADB-3207012-T1M7.

11. Accessibility of hyperlinks breaks when adding a page and cannot be fixed

    I use Word 365 of a main docment to generate a PDF, and remediate in Acrobat DC. I have to add in pages in the fron an back of the document that comprises the front and back covers (also from Word). (The cover PDFs also pass accessibility check).

    However, when I drag one page into the Main document PDF and run the accessiblity checker, all the hyperlinks that tested OK in the main document now generate a 'tagged annotations' error.

    Normally, remediating such errors is easy: you show in the content panel, find the unmarked links/annotations and tag them appropriately.

    However, Acrobat finds no unmarked links or annotations, so these files cannot be remediated.

12. Add multiple tags

    In the Tags pane, add a context menu item under New Tag titled Add Multiple tags. The dialog box would allow the user to select the type of tag to add and another input for the number of tags to add.

13. Graphics disappearing when auto-tag used.

    When using auto-tag, often graphic elements are forced to back or deleted. See attached examples, where the text next to the HHS-CDC logo is messed up after auto-tag.

14. Multiple Undo in Order and Content panels

    2 years ago, Adobe programmed that the Tags panel would have Undo. That was very helpful.

    But we also need to Undo in the Order and Contents panels, too.

    When remediating PDFs to meet accessibility guidelines and laws, people work in the Order and Content panels, too, not just in the Tags panel. As in any workflow, we sometimes need to undo what we just did.

    Right now, we must revert to the previously saved version which might go back too far and not be helpful at all.

15. BUG: Autotag Error puts hyperlinks on all numbers

    When Autotag is run in Acrobat Pro, it puts hyperlinks on all numbers, such as numerical data in tables, page numbers, and random numbers within the body text.

17. Reading Order not showing up

    1. When I open a document the reading order is missing.
    2. One of my clients has sent me a pdf with the reading order attached and the tags assigned, the document has been tagged, it's all good to go. However, when I open the document on my end, all of the reading orders have been removed. I know the reading order has been set, i checked the original document and it was tagged properly, but when she emails it to me the reading order is not showing up on my end.
    3. We both have Windows 10 Os, I am on the latest version of adobe acrobat pro dc, she is on adobe acrobat version 11.0.0. Maybe that has something to do with it, i would hope not, but you never know with computers.
    4. When I receive the document the reading order should still be there.

18. Text-to-speech functionality does not work with the Apple OS version of Adobe Acrobat Pro, as in previous versions

    It has been important in my practice to review reports and multitask. The Apple OS version of Adobe Acrobat is not compatible with the system-wide keystroke of option+s, which activates text-to-speech. This essential function works with MS Office 365 and other third-party apps. Secondly, the rate of speech (even after changing the preferences) is too rapid for use. Clearly, the options of reading the whole page or whole document are limitations. I work with patients who have auditory processing problems, and I can imagine that this function makes some document reading inaccessible. The current configuration is probably an upgrade for Windows® users, but inefficient for Apple® users. The current tag routine consumes time and is not efficient as selecting text and listening to the text. Please consider adding an option to disable the Adobe text-to-speech function, similar to Microsoft Office so that one can use the Apple text-to-speech function. Thank you for reading and considering this concern.

    List labels are rarely get tagged which make the tagging extremely tedious. Tables, underlines, links always leave pathing tags which need to be manually removed from the content, again making the process of creating accessible files extremely tedious. There has got to be a better way.

20. Turn Grid on/off with CMD+G instead of CMD+U

    I had somehow turned the Grid on. I love keyboard shortcuts, so I tried "CMD+G" and nothing happened. "CMD+R" turns the ruler on/off. So I went through the view nav, and found that the key command for turning the Grid on/off is "CMD+U" .... why is it "U" and not "G"? G would make the most sense because it's a Grid. There's not even the letter "U" in the word Grid.
