Please fix linkCreation.dotm
Acrobat Pro (for the last several versions) continues to install linkCreation.com into MS Word directories, even though it is known to cause Word either to crash or to throw VBA errors. Please either fix the template or stop installing it.
Hi
Can you try updating your Office and Acrobat?
Let us know if that fixes the issue else, please share the screenshot of the errors or crash dump.
Thanks
Tanvi

This issue is now occurring even when following Microsoft's instructions for locating and removing linkCreation.dotm. Every time I re-launch Word, I get an Error 53 and linkCreation.dotm is selected under Tools->Templates and Add-ins, no matter how many times I delete it. What needs to happen to fix this issue?

Hi! You really need to make this a optional thing. It does not work. Word had lots of errors on every startup. Only way to get rid of it was to find the linkCreation file and delete it.
I don't need that file. It might do some good on Windows Word, but nothing that I need, because that is not what I installed this software to do. I don't want it, and right now, I am tempted to delete the software and find another that might do the job.
Please just give us an option to integrate with Office, if you care about your users at all. It is not helping me. It is destroying Word.

I'm having the same issue. My Office is uptodate, so is Acrobat. See attached image.

Good Evening. I have just read the notes on this page covering the past 14 months. It is not impressive as regards Acrobat. My own website reaches out to 76 countries 24/7. It is not right that without warning my Microsoft program is effectively closed down. I am using Mac Desktop and I confirm that I have exactly the same problem as other users. If I disengage one, I get the other back. If I delete both and then reinstall, Microsoft functions efficiently for a short period, then the problem recurs.
What on earth are you talking about, 'try updating your office and Acrobat?'
I should be grateful if you would fix this problem as quickly as possible.
I am quite prepared to write a journalistic article on this subject to all 76 countries, for I take the view that customers and client bases shlould not be endangered by Acrobat.
I apologise for the formality, but, at the day's end, this is how I address the court, although I'm happily now no longer in law practice!
All hands to the pump, please, Acrobat Team. People are relying upon you all to solve this problem.
Regards

Hi Tanvi.
I would appreciate being able to create PDFs with links and bookmarks in Word for Mac, but "It helps to create better quality PDFs" is not a satisfactory response to these specific complaints of LinkCreation.dotm causing problems with multiple users' MS Word installs.
Nor is "try updating your Office and Acrobat": As David says, Adobe shouldn't be modifying directories of other software makers without user permission.
Is there someone there who might be willing to help?

The issue has persisted over several versions of both Acrobat and Word and needs to be fixed, please

This is happening to several clients for us. What is the solution? I have uninstalled Office and all Adobe, removed Adobe files and reinstalled. The problem goes aways for a little while then comes back. If you disable the plugin, I can open the file. If the plugin is active it crashes. This is definitely an Adobe problem. When I install Office with out Acrobat, no Office apps crash. As soon as I install Acrobat, the problem comes back. We have clients that need both Office and Acrobat. Please fix this!

This issue is occurring on my Mac and both applications are up to date. How do I fix it?

Adobe shouldn't be modifying directories of other software makers without your permission. I disabled the add-in because it was seriously slowing down Word for me on large documents (10+ pages). I keep everything up to date.

I’m also getting this error message when I open Word, so clearly the bug still exists: "Add-in Alert Word detected an issue with ‘linkCreation.dotm’. It caused Word to start slowly"

Good news for Mac users. If your only mission is to join/combine/split PDFs you do not need Acrobat invading your Mac.Use Preview to do this: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202945

Yes, I keep getting warning messages for Word about this, and both disabling the add-in and deleting it, but it keeps getting re-installed and re-enabled every time I update Acrobat. I do not need to make PDFs from Word, so there should be a way to permanently delete or disable it.

Word crashes immediately after startup. The problem disappears when I delete linkCreation.dotm.
I can send you the crashlog, but i do prefer not to upload it here on an open forum
After updating Adobe Acrobat DC, the template came back, and crashing reappeared. I deleted it again, and that solved it. I just need Acrobat to combine multiple PDFs. I do not need integration with Office, or anything else. Can I disable this? -
Hi
Link creation is Acrobat Word PDFMaker addin file for Mac Office. It helps to create better quality PDFs with links, tags, bookmarks and via Document Cloud service.
Thanks

What is linkCreation? What does it do? Why do I need it?
