  4. With WORD (2016) and PDFMaker:

When creating PDF maker and asking it to convert the Document's Headings / Styles to Bookmarks; It does not include some characters in the bookmarks.

Characters such as Non-Breaking Hyphen. There may be others also.

[ Special characters are inserted into work using INSERT > SYMBOL > MORE SYMBOLS > SPECIAL CHARACTERS ]

Also the Case of text characters is taken from STYLE information, rather than from TYPED characters (I.e. from the FORMATTING, rather than the DATA). If for example the style specified all text in UPPERCASE. Then the bookmarks will be also in UPPERCASE..…

  5. With Microsoft WORD (2016) & PDFMaker:

With an Image with Transparency: .PNG File. Placed against a dark background (paper colour) to show the white outline that occurs around the image.

Occurs in .PDF files when No image resolution downsampling is set, and image types are stored in NON-lossy image formats, e.g. NONE, ZIP, JPEG 2000 (LossLESS)

It occurs at all zoom levels. But disappears when zoomed in to the maximum zoom level.

When the resultant PDF File is later, either DownSampled or LOSSY Image comprressed (Using PDF Optimiser), the white Outlines become part of the Image and are much more…

  6. When using Microsoft Word & PDFMaker:

Circular gradients do not have the expected gradient pattern. They have a STAR shaped gradient pattern.

This star shaped gradient pattern is more apparent as the shape that has a gradient fill becomes SMALLER.

Also, Acrobat stores these shapes and fills as a Bitmap image representation, so they are not Vector objects as expected, so they do not regenerate with scaleing.
Other PDF software, e.g. FoxIt PDF Editor, does not have this gradient pattern problem. Also it stores the shapes and gradients correctly as a Vector object.

[Note: Other unexpected patterns, may occur with…

  8. Acrobat Pro Feature Request

I have a document that is approximately 6x3". I need to output this document to two different PDF deliverable files:

    1) at the 6"x3" size, for use on a tiny screen

    and

    2) on 8.5"x11" size with 3 tiny pages per sheet, for efficient printout on standard paper or viewing in PDF

I save my source content to the 6"x3" size and get a beautiful PDF file. Deliverable 1 looks great.

But, I cannot save my source content to PDF with multiple pages per sheet (from Word).

Also, from Acrobat, I cannot save the output 1…

  10. When I create a binder Pdf from different pdf files, I cannot save the binder. It remains just stuck on the save window and nothing happens. How can this be solved? There are sites which only allow uploading of a single file, thus you need to be able to combine more files into one. Thanks for your prompt support.

  11. Create PDF Office add-in and function in Acrobat both drop sentences, bullet points, and headers when converting files. This is only happening to the subscription-based users in the office. The users with the Tech Comm suite version of Acrobat do not have this issue.

  12. Internal hyperlinks, cross-reference hyperlinks, and TOC hyperlinks made in the latest version of MS Word 365 are not retained by PDF Maker.

    Affects: Word 365 version 2109 14430.20270
    Adobe Acrobat 2021.007.0095 and
Adobe PDF Maker 21 (Library 21.7.123)

These errors are in addition to others listed for PDF Mader at https://acrobat.uservoice.com/forums/590923-acrobat-for-windows-and-mac/suggestions/44183082-accessibility-errors-with-pdf-maker-update-sept-20

Hyperlinks from Word are non-functional when exported to PDF via PDF Maker. Affects both traditional hyperlinks and accessible hyperlinks:

    — Traditional internal hyperlinks are not clickable.
    — Accessible internal hyperlinks are missing the <Link> / <Link-OBJR> compound tag that provides an accessible hyperlink.

    — TOC hyperlinks are not clickable…

Thanks for your patience. We have investigated this issue and found that this has broken with a recent Office update and would require a fix from Microsoft.

This has also been raised on Microsoft fourms in several threads and acknowledged and it seems they are investigating this issue. Please follow these threads for updates.

As a workaround, please revert to older version of Office to make links work.

  13. See the attached files for more info, the dev team surely has more knowledge on the file structures than I do, and the parser for whatever format is involved.

I have an Illustrator file, created out of an old EPS one. Works fine in Illustrator and everything, exporting to PNG, for example, is no problem.

However if the drawing gets pasted in Word (365, 64-bit 16.0.14228.20288) and one tries to create a PDF out of it using the COM Add-in the drawing isn't interpreted correctly leading to a garbled mess.

Office's internal PDF exporter does a better job, but you…

  15. Links are not working after converting a Word document to a PDF. After much troubleshooting, the cause of the issue is the number of pages. Four or more pages works as expected, three or less does not.

To reproduce the issue, create a Table of Contents at the top of the document that links to the Headers of each section. Then Save As Adobe PDF. The expected result is that the Table of Contents will still contain links to the Headers of each section as bookmarks in the new PDF. The observed result is that the links are broken if…

  17. Several major bugs have been documented by users in the Adobe Community Forums since Acrobat and PDF Maker were updated on September 14, 2021.

    They are:

1: Alt-Text from MS Word is not converting into the PDF. Instead, it is dropped and gibberish code is inserted. See https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/alt-text-converting-wrong-from-word-to-pdf/m-p/12393017 This violates the PDF/UA-1 standard which requires that every graphic have alt-text that verbally describes the graphic.

THIS IS A HUGE BUG. You essentially have made Acrobat unusable for those who are required by their country's laws to make fully accessible PDFs.

2: Every cell border on every table cell is being…

    Hi,

Thank you for raising these accessibility issues. The post mentions about the following six bugs being introduced with the update that went live on September 14, 2021

1: Alt-Text from MS Word is not converting into the PDF. Instead, it is dropped and gibberish code is inserted
2: Every cell border on every table cell is being tagged as <P>PathPathPathPath
3: The underline on Hyperlinks should be tagged as artifacts
4: Borders and background shadings on Text Boxes are being tagged as a combination of <Figure>s and PathPathPath
5: Paragraph borders and shadings: same deal as #4 above.Per the PDF/UA-1 standard, they are visually decorative and should be artifacted
6: Dragging and dropping elements in both the Tag and Order panels is now broken.

Would like to mention that out of these, #1 and #6 were introduced with the Sep 14 update and remaining (#2, #3, #4 & #5)…

  18. I would like to be able to place images within a folder, then batch convert many folders to produce 1 PDF per folder. For example "FOLDER1" contains 10 jpges. I would like FOLDER1.pdf to be 10 pages, "FOLDER2" to be FOLDER2.pdf and so on.

  19. Text becomes corrupted when combining PDF documents.
I've seen many reports here stating the same problem but have been closed.

My text in my documents became corrupted when I combined a 141pg PDF full of drawings.
I performed the same operation in Nitro 10 - no problems whatsoever!
