Alternatives to Adobe
Given all of the complaints about the new updates, including the silly AI assistant, perhaps this would be a good place to discuss alternatives to Adobe Acrobat. I'm ready to start sending my money to another company. Does anyone have suggestions? I've used Drawboard, which is very good for doing markups but a bit too slow for general reading of PDFs. PDF Architect seems quite good. Any others?

Returning Plugins to the Top Bar in New UI
In Adobe Acrobat Pro original UI Plugins are placed at the top making it easy to access. In the new UI released a couple of weeks ago, Plugins are buried in the settings menu making them very cumbersome to use. Please move the Plugins back to the top bar.

How?
How, after so many years of development, is this application a steaming pile of buggy junk?

BUG: Default Page Layout Settings Do Not Apply When Opening Documents
I have my Default Page Layout Settings to Single Page Continuous, Fit Page, but documents ALWAYS open to Two Up Page Layout. It should open to the Default Page Layout as specified.
I also have "Restore last view settings when reopening documents" under Documents Category turned ON, does not make a difference.
Thank you.

This is in regard to the new look of Adobe Acrobat. I changed my view back to the older version. My suggestion is to leave the toolbar and include a popup tip that tells how to turn it off. I spent an hour trying to find the toolbar, how to turn it on. I tried customize, several different options. I tried using AI and it said there was no option to do that. Thank you for the opportunity to interact

crash
I use a windows 10 PC and this app has become nearly unusable. Every single time I am editing a document or commenting, it crashes. If I leave the document open and don't touch it, it crashes. It's now crashing so badly that the textbox wont even let me write a report or send feedback on the crash. This is completely UNNACCEPTABLE given I PAY A MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION FOR THIS APP.

edit
Generally, this new version of Acrobat pdf is not user friendly. Editing is much more difficult. Adding text is more challenging since the existing text blocks get highlighted as well, so you have to add your new text box to the side and then drag over.
Adding images is hit or miss as well. Many times, the file won't even load. I'd like the old version back.11 votes -
Searching crashes after typing the search phrase
Adobe Acrobat Reader crashes when trying to search documents. I switched to another program due to that issue.

Can't edit font
Why did you wreck Acrobat Pro? I can't change the font, italicize, increase line spacing, or any of the other fine tuning features of the previous version.
You've made a formerly great product almost useless.
Please revert to the previous version or I'll cancel my subscription. Not worth it.

BUG: Color selector truncated under bookmark properties
This is a bug. The color selector under book mark properties is truncated.
- Open multiple page pdf.
- Create a bookmark.
- Right click on the bookmark name to open the context menu and select properties.
- Click on the color to change it.
Results: The color selector box is truncated on Windows 11, Acrobat v. 2024.002.20687 64-bit (Geez, why does the version disappear when I click outside of the app!) If you open the Edit tool and click on to change the color of a font the selector has more choices.
Expected: All the colors please!

In Organize Pages tool entering a page number closes tool
- Open a multi page pdf
- Open Organize pages tool (my files are over 50 pages)
- Set view that you can see several pages and the page control appears on the right side of the screen.
- Enter a page number into the page control and press the enter key.
- Press the enter key again.
Results: Either nothing happens (first time clicking <enter>) or the Organize pages tool closes (second time clicking <enter>). This makes the page control useless within Organize pages. I have to larger documents I'm trying to sort out and this is making it **** difficult to do!

New Layout
Your new layout is just a crab!
Impossible to work with when you have to find and / or adapt the simplest layot functions. Do you test your ideas before go live ?
Happy that you competitors are a little bit more user friendly.15 votes -
Bookmarks from not exported pages included
When I export just one page from a large Word document to PDF, the bookmarks from ALL pages are included, not just from the selected page. That means I have to wait for the programme to run through all 200-400 pages. I think it is a bug in this version, I have never experienced it before.

Multiple files opening at once
The latest version of Acrobat Reader is frustrating to the point where I no longer want to use it.
I'm particularly frustrated that when opening a PDF file, Acrobat decides to automatically open all of the files that I had open last time I used it, meaning I have to wait to use the file that I actually wanted to use and select it from the list of opened files. Why can't I just open the file I want to use and have it ready to go?
Another thing is that while I'm using other apps, Acrobat randomly decides to open all of the files I recently used. Why? I have auto open on start up disabled, and this happens randomly even hours after starting the computer.
And my last rant is about the new UI. Sure, it might look cool, but why can't I set up toolbars so that regular operations are there to click rather than having to hunt through menus to find them?

Check each word's spelling to avoid these types of mistakes.

A merged PDF file, when emailed out, the recipient received only the first page
Bug: I have a 30-page PDF file that, when emailed out, some recipients see a PDF file with only the first page (although the file size is correct).
The final 30-page PDF was merged from 3 PDF files:
1. File #1: 1 page, converted from Microsoft Word 365 using its native PDF exporter
2. File #2: 2 pages, converted from Microsoft Word 365 using its native PDF exporter
3. File #3: 27 pages, came from an external party who said it was converted from Microsoft PowerPoint 365The scenarios:
1. Scenario 1: emailed out from Outlook 365 to Gmail (and to some Outlook users), the User can only view the first page (even though the file size is correct)
2. Scenario 2: used an online tool to "compress" the PDF, then the file can be sent correctly ... i.e. the recepient can view all pagesUpon investigation of the PDF properties:
1. all files mentioned above were PDF Version 1.7 (Acrobat 8.x)
2. Scenario 2 file is missing the XMP Media Management Properties metadata compared to Scenario 1 file. Furthermore, when comparing File #1, File #2, File #3, and Scenario 1, Scenario 2 files, after merging the metadata became a mix from File #1 #2 #3 ... while Scenario 2 mainly has the XMP Media Management Properties removedBug: I have a 30-page PDF file that, when emailed out, some recipients see a PDF file with only the first page (although the file size is correct).

Save related methods are not being invoked for Tools->export
In the plugin code, I am trying to intercept/replace AVDocDoSave, AVDocDoSaveAs, PDDocSave etc functions to identify the original file when the user tries to export the file from Tools option, and I see that none of the above functions are being called in this flow. But this seems to work when we try export from Menu bar.
This bug is to report the same. I have tried this in Adobe 24 version on mac OS Sonoma. But I think this is applicable to pervious versions as well
Thanks,

Need way to reset to original look
The user interface for Adobe Acrobat is not intuitive, and the font is so tiny that it's difficult to read I want to switch it back to my original configuration and it won't allow me to do this. I hate it with a passion. I don't have time to fiddle around to try and figure out all this new stuff when it was fine before. It does not look slicker, and the toolbars are in the way when I am doing zoom, which is why I don't like it this way!

Unable to repeat Initial field across all pages
The latest update to the e-signature feature lacks the ability to automatically replicate the 'initial' field across all pages. This functionality was readily available in the previous version with a simple button click. The absence of this feature renders the e-signature process highly inefficient for businesses, as it now necessitates the manual insertion of initials on each page.
