1. Acrobat combine files + Batch compare pdf + Clarify array object error

   1. Combine files into a Binder always FORCES the default to be filename sequence.
      The User should NOT be forced to move HUNDREDS of files in a large document
      just to get them in the proper sequence.

      Yes, there is the "Move Up/Down" option which works on each file ONE AT A TIME.
      However, has anyone on the Acrobat team actually tried to do that to resequence
      over 1,000 pages into an absolutely different non-alpha result??? THINK DAYS !!!!

     - If the files are in different folders, it ignores the folder structure, even if 
       WINDOWS EXPLORER is sorted to list the files in folder/filename sequence 
       [See Example #1 at the end.]
   
     * >>>>> Using different tools, I've finally been able to achieve the desired result! 
         I've combined over 1,000 pages coming from DIFFERENT folders  
         and subfolders so that the final Binder is true to actual file sequence in 
        each of the original folders (including their respective subfolders). <<<<<
   

   1. "Expected an array object" error when comparing 2 pdf's
      • Indicate which page/pages has/have error
      • It is almost IMPOSSIBLE to find the "cause(s) in a 3,000 page document

     - Worst of all, the document seems to be correct during most steps. 
        During several steps, it can be searched and put into a binder.  
        Suddenly, seemingly out of nowhere, this error occurs and all 
        subsequents tasks cannot be run!   
   
     - A compare of the document is NOT possible. See "Docu Processing"

   1. Compare numerous pdf's in batch-type logic and determine if they are identical. Better yet, simultaneously allow the User to place the identical ones. in the Recycle Bin.

    - As verified by tech support, it is only possible to compare one 
      pdf with another. Because of the way Acrobat works, a minor 
      change not related to the content will never match as per any 
      and all of the available compare programs. 
   
      >>>>> For example, open MyTest.pdf. Save as 123.pdf and 
                   save again as 456.pdf.    Do NOT make any changes! 
   
                   Looking at KB-size, the documents will seem identical, 
                   but they will in fact differ by 1 to 3 bytes in size. 
   
    - Basically, because the filename is stored somewhere in the
      document, the 3 pdf's will NEVER compare as "EQUAL", unless 
      they are reviewed in a tedious, manual, multi-step manner. 
   
    - Yes: Acrobat's Tools > Compare  pdf#1 with pdf#2  
       will "reveal" that the content is identical. 
   
     - Now consider the nightmare of trying to "cull" old backups 
       or various attempts to "combine" ....... and you can see that 
       MONTHS would be required. 
   
     - I have purchased several compare packages. They work fine 
       on many file types,  but they absolutely CANNOT handle 
       batch pdf compares!
   
    - Think of charging 
            (just  $25 for such a tool)   x
            (the millions of worldwide Acrobat Users)   x 
            (only 20% purchased)    = 
      LOTS AND LOTS of profit for Adobe !!!!!!!!!!!!
   

   1. It seems that various financial institutions etc have
      different ways of INTERNALLY storing the contents of
      a pdf. Specifically, FONTS are not FONTS. That means
      that documents when printed look 100% alike, but
      when electronically compared, the FONTS and similar
      information causes havoc.

      Adobe is the leader in pdf creation.

      There is a need to batch compare or batch redact
      without the nightmare of font-like hidden elements.

   2. Protection > Redaction could also be greatly improved
      to make life easier for the user:

      Global redact in this document:

      From "text 1234567" to "text 12...67"

      From Medicare xxxx-xx-xxxxA to Medicare xxxx-xx-xxxx.
      (Remove only the last letter of the longer text).

   Example #1 (To achieve max chaos, use 50 folders each with 50 subfolders)

      Folder 1      1
                            7
                            x
                            y
                            z 
   
      Folder 2      1
                            9
                            a
                            b
                            c
   

   • Use Windows Explorer to search for *.pdf and sequence by folder.
   • Windows properly lists 1-7-x-y-z followed by 1-9-a-b-c
   • Block copy the above and right click in that sequece to "combine"
   • No matter how hard you try, the Binder has 1-1-7-9-a-b-c-x-y-z
   • Yes, it bunches the 1's !!!!!
   • Repeat the test with 1,000 different filenames and sequence using MOVE UP .... and collapse from exhaustion!

   This still does not work
   "Compare Documents - Please add an option or setting to the compare document feature so that shifts in paragraphs of unchanged text are not marked as changes. ... Currently it shows as a text delete and then a text insert on the following page.

   Batch processing to Actions in Acrobat DC HOW?!?!?
   Can you provide a "plain English" description on how to create a "batch processing" type Action that can be use on multiple files at once? I have hundreds of files that I need to set open options on and add specific bookmarks to. Trying to do this one at a time is NOT happening. Urgent please!

   If you check the internet, there are literally hundreds of people who really need these features.
   As the market standard, Adobe would help it Users if these features were implemented.

2. PDF Initial View Magnification Guidelines

   Why doesn't Adobe set the default initial view magnification setting to "fit page" so a viewer can see an entire document upon initial view? As a seasoned graphic designer, I believe it is much more courteous to allow the viewer to orient themselves to an entire document and then allow then to zoom in for more detail. It is disconcerting to see a partial document when opening a PDF file. Adobe is a leader in accessibility standards and I wondered if you had insight into this topic, I don't see a recommended initial view magnification in the WCAG 2.0 AA standard but I have found references that state that the "page fit" works better for some screen readers when they read a PDF. I'm seeking a "best practice" guideline. Please respond at your earliest convenience. Thank you.

3. Superscript styling not retained when using Comment to mark-up a PDF

   I have recently upgraded to Adobe Acrobat Pro DC. For my work, I need to mark-up PDFs using Comment tools. When I style some text as superscript using either the feature available in the box that appears when I right click or the shortcut ctrl/shift/+ and then close the pop-up box the styling becomes subscript instead of superscript. I used Adobe Acrobat Professional 8 for a long time and didn't have any problems. It is very frustrating that this doesn't work properly in Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, especially as 'superscript' is offered as a feature in Comments

4. Print to PDF

   Google Chrome = Latest Version
   Acrobat X Pro
   Observation: Had no problem prior until 7/28/2017 when I noticed I had problem printing from a webpage (e.g. eBay.com) to PDF using Adobe Acrobat print driver. The printing would stall and this Distiller error would show up each time. Also strange is, I could clear this error message other than restarting my computer. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

5. Can we not get Times New Roman for a Font? That is ALL MY DEGREE PLAN ACCEPTS. What is the use to be able to edit a PDF if you need word fi

   I NEED TIMES NEW ROMAN FOR FONT. What is the use of being able to edit your PDF if u have to convert it back to word for font !

6. why cant I save my toobar after I customize it- when i open new pdf files the default toolbar always appears

   simple- allow the toolbar to be saved after it is customized so that it will always appear when new documents are opened.

7. Automatically open the same files after restart

   Automatically open the same files on same page after restart. This would great in conjunction with the feature "Restore last view settings when reopening documents". If one has several documents open and one has to restart Adobe Acrobat or Windows it would be quite timesaving and relieve the pain of having to find each document and re-open.

   Preflight libraries are a new feature. They cannot be selected via the Script API. I now have to tell script users not to change the preflight library, which some of them often do. Clearly the JavaScript call should look for the preflight profile in all libraries - or there should be a documented way of executing a profile regardless of a user's previous preflight activities.

10. Page/Bookmark Panes

    Option to keep page and bookmark navigation panes open. I use them everyday. Every single time I open/create a new pdf, I have to open panes. Haven't found a way to keep them open if it exists.

11. Recognize NVIDIA high-end GPU on Dell Precision Mobile Workstations with Optimus

    Acrobat DC Pro does not recognize NVIDIA high-end Workstation GPU on Optimus- enabled Dell mobile workstations. EVERY other software does, just not Adobe's. Please Fix!

    We use many of these systems for Engineering and purchase many Adobe Acrobat pro for Workstations. Looking for other options due to Adobe's poor GPU performance.

12. Bug report - pdf won't open with Acrobat DC pro but opens properly with reader

    I am trying to open a pdf form from the Gov. of Canada using Acrobat Pro DC but nothing happens. After double clicking the file, I can see a background process (in task manager) but it doesn't show any activity and the interface doesn't show even after several minutes of waiting. I have tried restarting / repairing installation but same result. Any other document works fine. I have tried opening the same document on another machine with Acrobat reader DC and it opens properly in a few seconds. I have attached the document as well as a screenshot of the property/security.

13. digital signatures

    Acrobat DC Pro hides the 'digital signature' field unless you follow a very convoluted series of steps to find it. Recommend ALWAYS having the digital signature option available. Also, recommend disambiguating between 'signature' 'initial' and 'digital signature' fields. Conceptually very similar. Functionally very different.

    To use Digital Signature on Acrobat/Reader, if you have a signature field present on the pdf, you still can click on the document field and it would initiate the digital signature workflow. This functionality is still present in Acrobat DC. If you want to draw a signature on the pdf outside a signature box, please go to Tools—Certificates—Digitally Sign. That would enable you to draw a box on the pdf for the signature.

14. Completely kill Acrobat DC - what a piece of junk.

    Acrobat DC makes you hunt through a menu and multiple clicks just to pull up each tool. And this is for each single PDF that is opened into the interface. Honestly this is just so bad. I want Acrobat to look exactly the same each time, with all my commenting and other tools lined up in menus on the right side. Every time, when I open any document, so that I can work.

    Why are text edits confined to the current page? The capability to drag a text block to another page is a must-have. Ability to have text flow to the next page is much needed.

16. Bounce Back/ Undelivered Report

    We need the ability to generate a report that shows agreement sends that are not delivered or have bounced back. This report needs to have date ranges, so the user can pull more than just a few days of activity at a time.

17. Save tool bar display settings when reopening documents

    I want the comment tools to remain as a toolbar. At present it goes away every time I close a document, and I have to bring it back every time I open a new document.

18. The description on invoices is unreadable gobble-de-gook!

    The description on invoices Adobe Acrobat Pro DC is complete gobble-de-gook!

    The description on our invoices currently says:
    65222762 APAP,ALL,MLP,DRI01,MAU,001,N/A,1 YR
    EAME
    Line Tax Rate: 10 %

    It should say something like:
    Adobe Acrobat Pro DC monthly subscription fee

    I'm not the only one who would like this changed. A Google search reveals plenty of other people who would like this changed too.

    Come on guys. i have been saving Word files for years as PDFs.

    I'm an Adobe ACI in five Adobe products. I know what I'm doing but tonight I'm tryiing to save a Word document as a PDF and now it's saying I have to register the product.... which is on the Cloud? ... and I've already downloaded the latest version. and registered it...

    Oh yes, am tryinjg to register.... but no options to do so.... it just basically says.......... well........ you know...... xxxxxxx

    Come ON... I'm getting a bit sick of the lack of information... and the lack of support... and the lack of stuff "just working".

    Somehow I've got to get this working and printed out for tomorrow's class... ****....

20. Press Quality Preset - Default PDF v1.7 needed

    I am a Prepress tech using an APPE workflow, the most current release. I have been seeing problems, since my upgrade and the advent of the CC, with PDF 1.4 being submitted for print. Mostly transparency problems. I have people modify their Adobe Press Quality PDF Preset to PDF 1.7, from InDesign. It helps greatly. Also makes me feel more confident in the soft proofing process, as v1.7 passes my EnFocus and RIP preflights better than lesser PDF versions. And I know this is an InDesign PDF export setting problem, but it is a Distiller preset, available within Indy. Can you please update your Press Quality Preset and share it with the other CC apps. I have other ideas about the Press Quality preset, but we will start with the important stuff. Much appreciated. bye bye then.
