1. Bookmark View

   Company updated to 2020 Adobe Acrobat Pro Previous version was 2015. the 2020 version does not have any lines connecting the bookmark structure. It's a lot EASIER to see when the lines are present in the bookmark tree. How can I get the lines in the bookmark tree to appear like in the 2015 Adobe PDF version?

2. AI Assistant

   Get that damned AI Assistant button OFF the top of my screen! It keeps popping up right over top of the scroll bar, making it impossible to quickly advance through the first page of a document -- right when all the introductory material I want to skim past is there. Why can't this thing be removed or disabled? The last thing I need is a summary made by a bot with the intelligence of your average high-schooler. This is the most annoying software add-on since "Clippy".

3. Bug - Organize Pages: Split Pages

   When splitting pages with the new update, I have to reselect my options to use the bookmark names as the file names and split by bookmarks multiple times before it will actually perform the feature. It always defaults back to Split by Number of Pages, and after reconfirming my selection will split it with the file name Add Label and Number after Original Name Option. It takes a couple tries to even get the document to split, and a couple more to get it to correctly split with the requested name - this was never an issue before the update and having to jump through multiple hoops just to break up the document has become ridiculous.

4. Default Bookmark View

   There used be a setting where you would create a bookmark and it would capture whatever the view ...... not zoom......view of the page. For example, lets say I am bookmarking a picture on a page and its sort of to the lower middle of the page and small. I used to use the dynamic zoom to this object and bookmark it. The bookmark would not only keep the custom zoom, but the location on the page as well. After the most recent update, this option is no longer default. You have to go bookmark by bookmark and adjust them individually under their bookmark properties then action. Not sure why this option was taken away. I've used it for over 5 years and it worked beautifully. Is there a way to bring it back with the next update?

5. New Layout is Counterproductive

   New layout of Adobe Reader is utterly counterproductive, and makes everyday use of Adobe Reader much slower and confusing.
   I, as well as many other users I know, am using Bookmarks and Pages in at least 95% of times when I use Reader. Therefore, they should be placed on the left, where they are expected to be (it is simply a standard for similar "master-detail" situations).
   Also, primary tools, like paging, zoom-in and -out, are placed in a bottom-right corner, just like they were hiding?! But these are the basic tools, and they must be placed centrally, either on top or on the bottom of the screen.
   On the other hand, toolbar with tools for commenting, highlighting, etc. is placed on the left side, taking unproportionally too much space on the screen, while it should be placed where toolbars usually are. I'm using these tools practically in less than 1% of times, so their current position is just annoying.
   There must be corresponding options, allowing users to customize positions of these UI elements, so we can place them to best suit out everyday needs.

6. Bug Report: Split PDF function not working

   When I use the split PDF, I select split by "Top level bookmarks" and "The same Folder Selected at Start" for "Target Folder" and "Use bookmark names for file names" under "File Labeling" under "Output Options". Then I click "Ok" and click on "Split".

   I receive an error message that says "The file may be read-only, or another user may have it open. Please save the document with a different name or in a different folder."

   However, the file is NOT ready-only and no one else has the file open because it's saved in a local folder on my computer's hard drive. Apparently, the bug has something to do with selecting "The Same Folder Selected at Start" because the split function DOES work when I select "A Folder on My Computer" for "Target Folder" instead while keeping "Use bookmark names for file names" under "File Labeling" under "Output Options".

   That means that I have to manually select the folder in which the split PDFs will be placed, which can be time consuming and annoying. Please fix this. Thank you.

7. AI Assistant – Don’t bother me while I’m off!

8. Bookmark panel does not display accented characters correctly

   Bookmark panel does not display accented or special characters. Text is fine but once bookmark is created, characters are not displayed correctly in bookmark panel.

   e.g. s´odico, c´apsula instead of sódico, cápsula.
   
   Panel does not display: á, é, í, ó, ú ü, Á, É, Í, Ó, Ú, ñ, Ñ.

   Please bring back the scroll bars to Acrobat Pro (Mac 24.2.20759.0)! It is an extremely annoying bug that severely disrupts my workflow. In fact, I am forced to use a third party app to continue working with PDF documents.

10. Mouse scroll wheel no longer works in Acrobat Pro.

    Beginning June 17, I can no longer scroll through the tags or content panes. This is a new problem this week, and I have confirmed that multiple people are experiencing the same thing.

11. Simplified Bookmark

    The current bookmark system is very flexible and feature rich, but is usually overkill for what I need. When I want to save my place in a PDF book, for example, instead of creating a new bookmark and editing it as I continue reading it would be much easier to just right-click on an existing bookmark and in the context (i.e. popup) menu have an option for "Save my place". Then, when I come back to the document it should just open to that location. Simple.

13. Old UI was Better

    Basically the old Adobe Acrobat Reader UI was significantly better and it continues to get worse. I often hop from PC to PC and every time I need to reinstall Reader I have to go and hunt down the settings to change everything back. It's taxing. Obnoxious. Here are the most important key changes that I have to make every time:

    1. The toolbar used to be docked at the top of the screen with tools like select, highlight, page navigation (back, forward, page up, page down), zoom, etc. Now it is a floating pane. I need it docked at the top.

    2. Page navigation tools including TOC and bookmarks used to be docked on the left side of the app. Now it's not there. I need it docked left.

    3. More tools used to be docked on the right side of the app like Export PDF, Edit PDF, Create PDF, etc and I could collapse it so I didn't actually see it. Now it is replaced with some kind of page navigation pane with "Edit, delete, or reply to comments", "Add, delete, or go to a specific bookmark", page thumbnails, next page and previous page and zoom. I need it the other older way.

    4. The old app interface had File, Edit, View, Sign, Window, Help in the top toolbar with Home and Tools in a toolbar just below that with the open files as tabs next to them in that same toolbar. Now there is just a Menu button with a bunch of options and a home button and the open files as tabs next to that menu and home button. I need it the old way.

    There's more too but this where I have to start over each time. It's awful. Why did you one day just decide the way everyone had been using it for years needed to be changed? And now I have to keep changing it back and have been doing so for years and I'm sick of it.

    And while I'm at it, remove any traces of AI from your products. Didn't ask for it. Don't need it. Don't want it.

14. Include "Inherit Zoom" in Preferences > default layout and zoom settings

    As many people have requested and reported the same problem, I spoke with a higher level support staff person, whom then spoke with the development team, they reported adding Inherit Zoom to the default settings list was not possible, yet already accomplished for Bookmarks as reported in a post for version 20.012.20041.
    The courts require all links and bookmarks to be set to inherit zoom. To set a link, it currently requires FOURTEEN STEPS per link to set it (see attached visual). Briefs will commonly have 100 or more links in them. And links can only be set, once everything is done, and just prior to submitting to the courts. This process can take 2 hours, while under extreme stress, yet 1,400 or more repetitive steps are required before a brief can be submitted. Meanwhile the rights of regular people hang in the balance.
    The staff did show me a process that reduces this to 5 steps, but without inherit zoom as a default setting option, it requires all 14 steps to implement anyway.

    Even if the staff were just to remove the double presence of highlighted buttons the process would be greatly improved, as half allow hitting enter/return, then the next step mandates use of the cursor (see attached visual.)
    Currently Adobe has created immense labor intensive steps that are unnecessary if a few simple adjustments are made. This labor affects thousands of users that in turn affects the legal rights of thousands of the people that depend on those users.
    As many people have pleaded for Adobe to implement this, it is clearly a highly needed aspect that has already been done for bookmarks. Please implement.

15. Split to top-level bookmark not working

    Split to Top-Level Bookmark is not working in Acrobat DC. To "solve" the problem, the user has to uninstall Acrobat DC, then re-install. Now the process works, but only once. The user then has to repeat the uninstall / re-install process to use the feature again. Else, the user gets the error message "The file may be read-only, or another user may have it open. Please save the document with a different name or in a different folder." This feature MUST work without the user having to uninstall / reinstall Acrobat DC.

16. Bookmarking for Scandinavian letter 'ä' and 'ö' doesn't work in Finnish version

    It just leaves the spot empty where the 'ä' should be. Same goes for 'ö'. Havent tried 'å'. Tested with two Macs (OS's Monterey and Catalina) It's likely a bug.
    I can add the ä manually to a bookmark but the bookmarking process becomes slower. I think this is because the developers haven't used Finnish keyboard when coding.

18. Update 24.002.20759 Crashing Issues

    Since installing this update approximately May 16, 2024, constant crashing and hanging up. Anytime I try to access bookmarks, document properties, accessibility tags Acrobat freezes up and eventually crashes. Attempting to check navigation links to web cause constant freezing, taking up to a minute to actually connect to the website.

19. Bookmark "set-destination" directly from page on currently selected bookmark

    I am using an online PDF for my University studies. I have to constantly go back and forward between the material, questions and solutions which are moving slightly down after material or question and each answer. I struggle with this as I can only use one hand.

    My current usage is:

    Keeping main material bookmark up to date:
    - Read material.
    - Come to a question.
    - Answer question.
    - Highlight next section to read.
    - Click on my custom "next section bookmark"
    - Right-click on "next section bookmark"
    - Click set destination
    - Click on dialogue confirming.

    Keeping answers bookmark up to date:
    - Click on my "answers bookmark" (previously created)
    - Check answers to question.
    - Highlight text for next answer required.
    - Click on "answers bookmark"
    - Right click on "answers bookmark" and click Set Destination.
    - Click on confirmation dialogue.

    I repeat this cycle and sometimes have to navigate back and forward to check material for answers. It works, but is a bit frustrating!

    What would make life a LOT easier is if you can:
    - Allow disabling of the Set Destination confirmation dialogue.
    - Allow Set Destination to be applied a hotkey. Applying to the currently selected bookmark.
    - Allow Set Destination to be applied by a right-click mouse button.

    Simply by the nature of navigating, usually this function wouldn't inhibit other bookmark functions as generally the user will always click on the bookmark to be updated before applying the update.

20. Not all Comments showing by default in commented PDF

    Open PDF – note that Acrobat DC reports one comment in sidebar on right of window.

    This is on Acrobat Pro DC, up-to-date (version 2021.001.20155), Running on MacOS Catalina (v.10.15.7). Comments were made on Acrobat Reader DC for PC, (version 2021.001.20138)

    Expected result – should display the amount of total comments in the PDF.

    Observed result – only displays comments once those pages are navigated to or scrolled past.

    This has been reproducible on multiple versions of MacOS
