  1. For whatever stupid reason, Adobe Acrobat on Windows (both reader and Standard and Pro) change their scrolling speed when it comes to large documents. This is ridiculous, as if you're reading a textbook suddenly the pages fly by with the slightest touch.

The preferred behavior can be found in MacOS's preview: scroll speed is proportional to sequential scroll events. Thus, for large documents, users that want to scroll quickly can do so but navigating a small number of pages is much more reasonable.

Thank you for the suggestion. We have notified our engineering for the same. We shall get in touch with you in case we need more information.

    Thank you for your patience

  2. When "Enable scrolling" is off, as it is by default, mouse scroll can scroll 10 pages or more in an instant, if the vertical page size is a little larger than the screen. It is unusable for me, so I need to change the setting every time I open a document, since the setting does not persist.

Why not make it so the setting will persist, so I don't need to change it every time I open a document?

  3. It's a bit repetitious to have to re-select View->Page display->Enable scrolling every time I open a file.

  4. Even in the latest public beta of MacOS 11, overall performance of Acrobat is sluggish. The app may take over a second to respond to a page scroll request via track pad and scrolling will be choppy.

    Hi,

Sorry for the issue that you are facing here.

We tried this at our end but couldn’t get a reproducible case.

Could you please share your BigSur Beta10 Machine configuration/System Information?

Also could you please share a Screen recording video of the sluggish behavior that you observe?

    Thanks

  5. Please, please allow a feature to DISABLE the bookmarks panel. It is completely useless in most cases but always opens on every new document. I open a lot of new PDFs every day, and EVERY SINGLE ONE pops up with a bookmark panel that is useless and takes up half of the viewing pane, which I then have to close. Truly, it is enough for me to stop using this program and find any other option, even if it has fewer features. This feedback does not seem uncommon when I spent a lot of time searching around for a solution.

  6. Create a persistent store for the Page Resize and Scrolling options - Just leave them in the same state they were when the app was last closed or provide a tab in the Preferences dialog where they can be set.

  7. When I open a PDF, and select View/page display/enable scrolling - it doesn't work. I have discovered (trial and error) that if I change the window size (click on bottom corner and drag/resize diagonally a little, larger or smaller) that that seems to correct the enable scrolling issue. It is frustraitng to have to do that with each PDF I open, since I review multiple-paged PDFs a good bit of the day. Please fix it. Thanks. (iMac user)

  8. I have a PDF document created from a Latex file, rendered via xelatex/MikTex. The document contains several section bookmarks as well as internal hyperlinks (hyperref package) to some of those bookmarks.

When I open the PDF in Acrobat Reader (on Windows 10, Vers 2023.008.20458) and i click on one of those hyperlinks, Acrobat crashes instantly. However if I click on one of the bookmarks (regardless if linked or not) in the "Bookmarks"-sidepanel (acrobat scrolls to the bookmark then) and AFTER THAT scroll back and click on the same hyperlink, it works without issues.

    Opening the same PDF…

  9. On the new Acrobat, there is no setting to change the default for this. It defaults to ON at all times. I am a legal professional, and this would be a big improvement for me. Users who regularly navigate long PDFs of hundreds of pages or more would benefit from having this setting OFF when opening documents, instead of having to disable it every time. As a side note, to my mind, a selection available from the current settings SHOULD achieve this, but currently does not - see attached. There is currently no difference that I can discern between Single…

    Hi,

    Greetings!

You can directly create bookmarks by selecting the text and pressing ctlr/cmd+b.
The bookmark will be created with required heading or text.

  11. Fix the program's code or the instructions in "Help" to rearrange bookmarks so that it is easy to rearrange them.

  12. How is it that you can't scroll the document while trying to save it? I've never understood why this doesn't work. Get to the end of the document but need to save an invoice number of something else from the top? Too late, you already hit save and now you can't find the number, so you have to close out of the save box, and then scroll up, and then try to resave the document with the number you need. Absolutely inefficient and a waste of time.

  13. Some keyboard inputs are deleted when searching whilst autoscroll is enabled. Makes searching infuriating.

Enable auto scroll on a document
Open the search box to search for text in the document
Start typing in the search box
As you type you will find some characters are not displayed in the search field

  15. Problem: when I read pdfs with more than one columns, I have to constantly scroll down each column, return to top, and continue scrolling. This is not only a hassle but also seeing other information in other columns usually distract me from the text I am reading.

proposed solution: It would be nice to have an option to scroll columns of text separately. For example the column that my mouse pointer is on it would become clear for reading and I could scroll it down, while the rest of the columns are slightly blurred to avoid distraction. By moving…

  16. I hope the new version of Acrobat UI layout with bookmarks on the left and tools on the right.
Currently, it is the opposite—bookmarks on the right and tools on the left. The majority of languages used worldwide are read from left to right, but the workflow in Acrobat goes from right to left, which is inconsistent with general reading habits. Many users complain about this on the internet.
It is suggested that bookmarks be placed on the left and tools on the right, or that there should be customizable layouts.

  17. If you type here before login/signing, once you do it, all typed text is wiped out. Really frustrating. Now, the other Acrobat bugs:

Adobe Acrobat Pro DC issues: slow scrolling - failed saving - document not found. Adobe Acrobat Pro DC 2019.010.20069 and previous ones on macOS has some issues, which have been around for ages. They are really frustrating:

    1. Scrolling vertically becomes excruciatingly slow if "Edit - Find" (Command F) is opened. Even on powerful Macs, like iMac 27-inch Retina 5K display 4.2 GHz with 40 GB RAM and fast 2 TB internal SSD from Apple (mid…

  18. At present it is only possible to split a PDF by top level bookmark; it would be great to have the option to choose the bookmark level (e.g., if there are nested bookmarks in a document). There are PDF editors around that do have this option.

  19. I like that I can now scroll through the entire document and not just one page at a time but I can't scroll with my touchscreen because it always thinks I'm trying to "fill". It would help a lot if I could also scroll using touchscreen in my business.

    Hi,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

We are investigating the issue at our end and will let you know in case of any updates.

  20. The new version of Acrobat moves tools to the left and navigation tools to the right without giving an option for users to customize the location. Having page navigation on the right is unergonomic because the natural reading order is left to right, and people click bookmark titles and page numbers before reading the page content. In books, the table of contents comes before the main content of the book, and you flip rightwards after choosing a chapter to read.

With navigation on the left, the tools would be on the right-hand side in the new version. This makes intuitive…
