1. conversion from word to pdf using Adobe Cloud is worse than save as on word

   using the document cloud to convert the word doc to PDF, the page layout was messed up, there were blank pages in the pdf. Tables did not fit. It was not an exact copy of the word doc. However using the save as function on word gave the exact copy but of course without the hyperlinks

2. Acrobat incorrectly adding links to text that contains the word 'news:'

   Hi, I have been making PDFs from InDesign CC 2019 running on Mac OS High Sierra. When opening the PDFs in Acrobat Pro DC, it's creating broken links from text that does not look like a URL and where no links have been specified. I think it's the 'Create Links from URLs' feature in Acrobat preferences trying to be helpful but failing miserably. This seems to affect text that uses a colon : but I can't ask my client not to use colons in their copy just because Acrobat is incorrectly reading it as a URL. My client is asking my why there are broken links, but I don't have the option of removing these links as both InDesign and Acrobat say that there are no links in the document. Please can you give me any suggestions as this isn't working.

   Also some sample PDFs with which you are facing this issue.

3. PDF

   Suggestion:

   Give text fields optional labels.

   1.) Only small, medium, or large font size.

   2.) Placement of left, right, above or below text field.

   3.) Character limit of 25 (or something small).

   The most common work-around option is using read-only text fields, however that gets messing when viewing the form in "prepare form" mode.
   Keep it simple if necessary, but simpler label options for text fields are wanted.

4. Copying pdf breaks formatting

   When copying anything from a pdf file to Microsoft Word or other text editors, the formatting is always messed up in many places, like double or missing spaces between words or missing line breaks.
   It would be much better if the formatting would be kept the same. This only happens when copying from a pdf, no other program/app does this on any other device.

   We the customers of Adobe hereby request the creation of a FULL Adobe Group Policy Template for Windows Domains (.admx/.adml) for all Adobe applications with all documented settings (please note your enterprise documentation does not have all settings documented, as some settings are on other pages in the new Adobe website documentation as well as some settings are under MAC even though they apply to Windows and Mac)

   This Group Policy Template is not a customized list of settings that are preset but a list of all settings that can be set with the options and description of how to set them just like: Microsoft, Zoom, Google and many more provide to its customer base.

   It is NOT acceptable for Adobe to tell its customers to create the templates on their own from the horribly documented and horribly maintained customer documentation.

   It may be looking like a great idea to cover everything. However, it is pushy and waste of money to promote this way Acrobat editor and AI. It is a good multiplatform format to see the same, to print the same. Well, to sign what you see. It is waste of time and money to make irrelevant features. Your format is not about efiting. Your AI should't break experience with regular search and shouldn't be enoying. Just fire your marketing and requirement management. They waste money of investors

9. Adobe Acrobat DC not editing correctly - bug report

   Up until very recently, I could "edit" a pdf to change an address, and the formatting would not change. Now, when I highlight the incorrect address and paste a new one in, it makes my text align right and messes up the whole document. Then I have to reformat. It's very annoying. Yes, I realize that pdfs in general aren't files to edit, but this is necessary because they're generated by our website, and sometimes mistakes need corrected. Regeneration is not an option.

10. Page position and bookmark error when closing multiple documents

    BUG.

    If you open several documents in Acrobat Pro and close them all using X button in top right corner of the window (which closes all tabs at once), page position and bookmarks are not saved properly.
    Page position and bookmark position is applied according to document which was in an active tab when you closed the window.

    Example.
    Open doc1 at page 10. Open doc2 at page 20. Both are opened under different tabs in one Acrobat window.
    Close the window using X button. Prompt will asks if you want to close all tabs. Confirm and close.
    Now open doc1, it will be opened at page 20, not 10. Also bookmarks will be messed up.

    BUG.

14. Adobe crashes when doing SAVE AS or printing MS Word DOCs to PDFs

    Sometimes the PDF editor doesn't have all the features I need, so I CONVERT to MS DOC and edit there, then SAVE AS back to PDF, but Adobe crashes when doing SAVE AS or printing MS Word DOCs to PDFs.
    I spent over ONE HOUR finding and Adobe files that needed to be Uninstalled to fix the problem, including over a dozen HIDDEN and BACKGROUND processes that were messing up my Windows registry. Then I reinstalled my Adobe Pro VIP version and it's working again, hopefully for at least the next few days. I tried sending emails to Customer support, but Adobe eliminated that option. I had to go through a bunch of HOOPS to get a Tech support guy who told me this is a common problem since 2023, but the engineers have not fixed it yet.

    Sometimes the PDF editor doesn't have all the features I need, so I CONVERT to MS DOC and edit there, then SAVE AS back to PDF, but Adobe crashes when doing SAVE AS or printing MS Word DOCs to PDFs.

15. A serious problem occured while Combining Files into a Single Single PDF

    One of my clinets had a very serious problem when combining files into a single PDF before optimizing the file to build a press-ready PDF.

    As you will see in the attached screenshots, while they were combining 256 pages of a book into a single PDF, the continuous tone image of page 239 appeared on both page 238 and 239. While the speech balloons are on their correct pages, the image on page 239 appeared on page 239 as well as page 238. The image on page 238 has been mysteriously replaced by the image on page 239. As this was a book with more than 1000 pages this error has slipped through all eyes. They could have only seen this error if they had printed an inspection copy from the multi page PDF and visually checked each page with the single page PDFs. My client has been doing this for many years and processed similar books successfully. They had no indication that such a disaster was coming.

    The book is printed and distributed. And now angry readers are coming back to the publisher for an explanation. Why has this happened? Is there a way to check the integrity of a multi-page PDF after combining it from single pages?

    This is a serious problem that can put an end to the relationship between the publisher and the printer.

    What can be done to prevent a similar problem happening again?

17. Freeze on Redaction of large number of images

    Acrobat freezes when you apply redactions to an excessively large number of images.

    In this example document, for some insane reason, the table lines are made up of individual 1x1 images. Acrobat will get to about 3/4 of the way through the progress bar and then stay there permanently. Finding the cause of this bug and a workaround took several hours of time and a lot of stress.

    Ideally, it should be able to progress past insane pages like this without requiring us to manually find which page is messing up and then removing the items under the redaction and then re-applying the redactions on the entire document.

    The two marks on the example page are representative of the marks that we had originally applied that froze Acrobat, although we had to redact under them in order to make the page safe for public uploading. The first of the two can be redacted by itself albeit slowly, the second will freeze acrobat completely.
    Interestingly enough, the table lines on this document used to be black, but turned that shade of blue from the initial redactions used.

18. Adobe DC not OCR all text in images

    I have scoured the web to see if I can find a solution to this, and so far have not found a viable solution. We need to create graphics in Illustrator, save them as high-res .png files and place them in Microsoft Word. Sometimes those Word files need to be submitted as .pdf files with all text and images searchable. When running the OCR in Acrobat, it is not consistent with recognizing text in all images.

    I have tried placing the .pdf file of the image as an object in Microsoft Word, but for some reason on the PC version of Word, it renders horribly (this does not happen on the Mac).

    I have supplied a screenshot of the OCR in Acrobat, as well as my PDF file for example.

    The only thing that has worked is bringing the PDF file into InDesign, placing it, re-placing the .ai images, re-exporting the PDF and then OCR'ing, but some of these documents are 200 pages long, with multiple authors working in them, so this is not a very feasible option.

    Any advice?

    The fact that the Apple OS Preview program can OCR and read all the text in the image is a tad infuriating, this should work correctly in Acrobat.

19. Having to pay to rotate a pdf....

    This is appalling. I had previously really enjoyed acrobat when testing it , however, the money hungry people back at corporate have changed that.

    I tried Acrobat Premium and found the cost to be far too high considering I can do the same thing and more for $12.00 per year on Goodnotes, but I gave it a try due to my previous positive experiences. As a student I do not have a lot of additional money for applications like Acrobat and I was extremely disappointed with the level of access I was receiving for almost $300.00 per year. I was disappointed with the slow, and often glitchy cloud services, as well as the issues with highlighting when the application could not recognize text. Overall, I would've rather lit my money on fire than continue to be frustrated with this application, causing me to cancel acrobat and switch over to Goodnotes.

    I cancelled my subscription months ago and I had been avoiding acrobat at all costs until now. At my work I need to edit PDF's and often rotate or crop documents. The default application for my computer was acrobat and I was appalled that upon opening the application that you are not even able to rotate or crop a PDF for free anymore.

    The sheer level of corporate greed they have to charge more than streaming services, apple, and even Microsoft for a service that is extremely basic and can in many ways be done for free on the default photo's app on mobile devices has turned me away from ever using them again.

20. Disable search look ahead while typing

    I work in a regulatory environment and searching PDFs is increasingly important to find information quickly. Many of the PDFs are large, in the order or 200 pages or more.

    In the current software, Adobe starts to look ahead after 2 or 3 characters are typed. This probably makes sense for a document that is say 10 pages long. But in a 200 page document it stalls the PC and messes up the search, for example if I'm searching for "thermometer" the PC gets stuck collecting all the words "the", "there", and anything else starting with "th" or "the". It's a ridiculous waste of PC resources as well as being annoying.

    In fact, the only way I can search a word is to type it elsewhere and then paste it in the search box to avoid the look ahead while typing.

    I have not found a way to disable this. Ideally the software would be able to tell if it is a large document and disable it automatically, and/or give priority to typing rather than the search, i.e. as a new letter is typed it starts the search again immediately, rather than completing the old search based on the first 2 or 3 letters.
