1. Content editing

   Hi all,

   can any of you tell me how to set Photoshop as the default for opening images from Acrobat Pro DC (macOS Monterey)?

   Whenever I click on an image under "Edit PDF" with the "Edit" tool, the preview is displayed in the "Edit with" submenu. When I say "open with" I can select Photoshop. However, I would like to use Photoshop as the default here so that I don't always have to select the programme under "Open with".

   I had actually remembered that I could set this in the settings under the item "Touch up". Unfortunately, this menu item no longer exists in the settings. What I do find is "Content editing". There I selected Photoshop as the default editor for the "Edit object" tool. Unfortunately, this did not have the effect I had hoped for.

   Mir wird immer, wenn ich unter "PDF bearbeiten" mit dem Werkzeug "Bearbeiten" auf ein Bild klicke im Untermenü "Bearbeiten mit" die Vorschau angezeigt. Wenn ich sage, "öffnen mit" kann ich Photoshop auswählen. Ich würde hier aber gerne Photoshop als Standard nutzen, sodass ich unter "Öffnen mit" nicht immer das Programm auswöhlen muss.

   Ich hatte eigentlich in Erinnerung, dass ich dies unter den Einstellungen beim Punkt "Touch up" einstellen konnte. Leider gibt es diesen Menüpunkt in den Einstellungen nicht mehr. Was ich finde ist "Inhaltsbearbeitung". Dort habe ich Photoshop als Standard-Editor für das Werkzeug "Objekt bearbeiten" ausgewählt. Leider hatte dies nicht die erhoffte Wirkung.

2. Bug: Windows 11 - latest acrobat reader - # char in path causes windows previewer bug

   To reproduce: using fully patched Windows 11 (@today) and latest acrobat DC.

   Create a folder in windows explorer (eg C:\files\acrotest) and place a pdf in it. Enable preview pane - works.
   rename c:\files\acrotest to c:\files\acrotest#\ - preview no longer works instead displays "File not found" message.
   rename c:\files\acrotest# to c:\files#acrotest\ - preview now shows HTML directory listing of c:\files
   rename c:\files#acrotest to c:\files..#acrotest\ - preview now show HTML directory listing of c:\

3. Adding White Space via the Crop Tool Does Not Work for Some Pages

   Here is a posting I recently made to the Acrobat "Editing and Exporting PDFs" forum:

   try67 wrote: "Yes, Acrobat Pro DC can scale all the pages of the file in a single command."

   As it turns out, Acrobat Pro XI is supposed to be able to do this, but as I stated offline to try76, "... I experimented with increasing the white space around pages (to 8.5 x 11.0) in XI. The single-column test page I sent you is from a 9-page, mostly three-column document, and when I use the Cropping Tool while attempting to do this, there is one lone (3-column) page that refuses to re-size - whether I try to do it individually or on the whole document...."

   All of these pages came from exactly the same source (i.e., a single .TIF scan series, followed by export via ABBYY FineReader Pro 14), so there should be no differences in them - yet Acrobat fails to perform. AFAIK, this is yet another bug, rather than some peculiarity injust that one page.

   In the meantime, this same putative "cropping" feature (cough!) in Acrobat Pro XI should be able to process the desired range of pages within the 200-page (4.25 w x 7.0 h) file that I mentioned in my initial forum posting on this subject (above), but when I try it, any number of pages, scattered throughout the document, do not respond to the command.

   I already own a full license for ABBYY FineReader 14, which is fully capable of exporting documents having whatever standard or custom page size I choose., but it is somewhat of a PITA having to drag a file like this into FineReader. This risks destruction of front- and back-matter page numbering that was painstakingly created within Acrobat - after which I then have to drag it back into Acrobat for clean-up of the page-numbering mess.

4. Some Update Suggestions

   Please allow us to move the tools around and add all tools to our favourites. I can't stand having to search for the "add stamp" or other tools I use daily every single time I need it. As well, there are too many steps to get to the stamp. The old way was simpler and much faster & user friendly.

   The create & manage stamp portion does not work so anyone who needs to add a stamp to the document cannot do so and our company uses this daily.

   I liked the old Adobe before this new update. I don't like the layout and don't like that I have to search so much for what I need & use often.

   I like the tool bar on the right, not the left.

5. Allow lefthand tool bar items to be moved into existing tool bar spaces on top or on the right of the screen

   Left hand tool bar uses up extra space on the screen. Why can't this be moved to the top or right where there is already toolbars with extra space. See attached document for picture.

6. Fill and Sign - Add Date Drag Option

   Hello,

   I fill out a TON of documents as a freelancer and this software just is missing some simple things that would make my life so much easier. Can we please just get a drag and drop fill option for todays date under that tab next to the signature? This would save me so much hassle alone.

   Anyways, PLEASE PLEASE make this easier for people who are filling out documents as well as creating them. I feel like there are so many tools to create documents but none for the people filling them out.

7. Cannot use Page Up/Page Down Keys or Jump to Other Open Document

   I cannot get the Page Up/Down keys to work. I'm viewing a multi-page PDF in full page to flip through them and spot changes. I can't see an option to reset tools or select this as a transition option.
   Also, in all other Adobe products, you can hit Command+` to jump between open documents, but not in Acrobat.

8. BUG: Acrobat DC Pro stopped working with BPDX files again

   Acrobat Pro has stopped processing BPDX files again. This has been working for me for more than a year, and suddenly stopped working after 18 October 2022 (approximately Acrobat version 2022.003.20263).

   Steps to reproduce:
   1. Create an Acrobat catalog index file; e.g. C:\Flare Destinations\MasterTerminal-PDFs\JMTIndex.pdx.
   2. Create a a BPDX file named C:\Flare Tools\PDFIndex.bpdx with the contents "C:\Flare Destinations\MasterTerminal-PDFs\JMTIndex.pdx /build"
   3. Run Acrobat from the Command Prompt with:
   "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat DC\Acrobat\Acrobat.exe" "C:\Flare Tools\PDFIndex.bpdx"

   Environment:
   Windows 10 Pro 21H2 OS Build 19044.2130 and Acrobat Pro Continuous Release Version 2022.003.20263

   Expected Result:
   Acrobat Pro will open and build the PDF search index.

   Observed Result:
   Acrobat Pro opens but does nothing. No messageis displayed and the PDF index is not generated.

9. Feature Request : Assessment Tool

   I am a Lecturer and I regularly mark scripts. It would be great of we could assess (mark) online on a pdf. There is not many online assessment tools out there. Learning is fast moving to the online space and being able to mark a pdf document will be excellent. I attached a file explaining detail of how it should work

10. Keep Comment Bar Open When Reopen pdfs

    Would like the comment bar to stay open when save and close pdfs to avoid having to click Tools and Comments every time I open a pdf.

11. Setup multiple pens

    A customer described how he uses multiple colored pens to mark up printed drawings and wants to be able to do something similar with the Acrobat commenting tools. He requested the ability to setup multiple pen thicknesses and colors for easy access, similar to the way PowerPoint allows the creation of multiple pen styles (see attached).

    Scenario is to open or make a document; the all tools menu pops out over the screen.

    request is to look In "Preference > General", there should be a new check box and indicating a user that can loads the app without "All Tools" or any tooling menus going to load without user's interaction. With user's interaction, on the screen after app is loaded, Notice the X button close these tools menus, but buttons above for tool menus exists. Click the all tool button and it's open with the x button.

    An option check box will bypass the tool menu from popping out and allow user to hover the mouse over to the tool menu buttons.

    Versioned of App is 2025.001.20435 Acrobat for 64 bit.

13. Ruler tool

    Can you please add a ruler tool. One which you could click on and it would go across the screen. If you could have it utilize the up and down keys to control it's movement, that would be great. Our firm receives a lot of lists in adobe pdf. form and it would help us keep track of where we are as we go through the pdf list.

15. Set Document Title in Initial View as Default

    Current Behaviour - If a PDF document has a title present in the “Title” document property then the default initial view of Acrobat Reader and Acrobat PRO is set to "File Name" rather than the "Document Title".

    Impact - Acrobat's Accessibility Checks report the "Title" error while the title is already there. This requires the "Initial View" setting to be changed on each PDF manually.

    Desired Behaviour - Set the “Initial View” to “Document Title” as default when a PDF is opened on Acrobat Reader DC and Acrobat DC Pro.

    Why the feature is needed - All organisations want to publish their PDFs which are 100%. For example, all US Federal agencies are required to publish their PDFs which are Section 508 compliant. Acrobat Accessibility Checks tools allow to achieve Section 508 compliant by making the PDF's accessible. If PDF contains a title then it doesn't make sense to keep the Initial View to "File Name".

    Please release a patch or add this feature in the next versions or Acrobat Reader and Acrobat Pro versions.

16. Suggestion Bar displayed over slide show

    When displaying a pdf file of photos generated by Lightroom's "Slide Show" module, Acrobat puts a small "Suggested for you" menu bar over the text at the bottom of the page. I can't get rid of it. Clicking on the 3 dots shows a "Hide" but this does nothing.
    Showing this Suggestion Bar makes using Acrobat useless for the display of a pdf slide show.
    Besides fixing this bug, another feature would be the ability to turn off suggestions and pop-ups. Please get out of my way!!

17. polygon hilight tool

    I routinely check, review, mark up records. I also use the markups to keep track of changes. Word documents are unacceptable because I need to keep a permanent record that work was done.

    PDF Exchange editor has a tool that lets me draw a polygon, and set the color blend mode so the polygon acts like a hilighter. I can use this to flag something that is an issue, use different colors to identify the type of issue, and whether or not it has been addressed/resolved.

    Adobe acrobat lets me twiddle the opacity, but this makes reading the file difficult, because the opacity interferes with readability.

    Can we have a free-form/polygon hilight tool, or adjust the color blend mode of polygons & lines?

19. bring back old, clean interface

    Please stop updating Adobe and making it less functional everytime. I just need a clean surface with a toolbar of my favorite tools at the top (e.g. marking things, the arrow, page navigation, text recognition). Stop the AI tools. Improve your text recognition. Almost everytime I get a new update, I end up being annoyed and disrupted in my workflow. This could be such an easy and clean tool. I would love to go back at least 2 versions, but that is not possible

20. Artifacting Error -- Still

    Reopening the bug notice from 2019.
    The artifacting error is not fully functioning within Acrobat's tools as of July 2022 with the current beta version.

    @Rachit/Adobe, please reopen this case.

    SUMMARY (July 2022):

    -- Incomplete action from the CONTENT panel. Leaves an empty <Figure> tag that must be manually deleted.

    -- Incomplete action from the TAG panel. Leaves an empty <Figure> tag that must be manually deleted.

    -- Partially complete action from the ORDER panel. It artifacts the content and removes the <Figure> tag ONLY for images. Path/Vectors are incomplete and their empty <Figure> tags must be removed manually. <Figure> tags are left in both the Tag and Order panels.

    Details:

    From the Content panel:
    1. Right-click, select Change Tag to Artifact.
    2. It does tag the content as artifact, but leaves an empty <P> or <Figure> tag in the tree.

    From the Tags panel:
    1. Expand the tag to show its yellow content container box.
    2. Right-click on the content container, select Change Tag to Artifact.
    3. It does tag the content as artifact, but leaves an empty <P> or <Figure> tag in the tree.

    Note: Can't select the tag itself <P> or <Figure> and artifact both the tag and its content at the same time.

    From the Order TREE:
    1. From the tree, select the element, Right-click, select Tag as Background/Artifact.
    2. It works for IMAGES, but not for PATH/vectors.

    Path/Vector elements are STILL in the Order tree, and an empty <Figure> tag is left in the TAG tree, too.

    From the Order Reading Order Panel (TURO tool panel):
    1. From the page, select the element, and select Background/Artifact from the tools panel.
    2. It works correctly for both Path/vector and image <Figure>s.
    3. Tag tree is correct, too.

    The artifacting error is not fully functioning within Acrobat's tools as of July 2022 with the current beta version.
