  4. When PowerPoint files are converted to PDF, all shapes containing embedded text that were excluded from reading order in PowerPoint are being tagged inappropriately during the conversion to be read by assistive technology anyway. Tagging and reading order as specified in PowerPoint should be carried over to Adobe PDF, and if text is marked to be excluded from reading order because it is actually decorative, this should be honored in the conversion process. For example, we use callout markers that consist of a solid circle with a number embedded in it (1, 2, 3, etc.). The numbered circles are excluded…

  5. When comparing two pdfs, identical text will be marked as changes if footnotes have changed location (by changed I just mean bumped to the bottom of a different page due to increased or decreased length, even though the marker is the same place in the text).

This is a function of the fact that Adobe sees footnotes as part of the text and so thinks the ordering of the text has changed.

This is related to the issue where Adobe does not maintain footnote status of smaller text at the bottom of a page (often under a line) when…

  6. I recently had to install Adobe Acrobat Pro and I would like to be able to remove the icons and replace them with text only menus. If I wanted to look at hieroglyphs I would tune in the Stargate series on MeTV.

Is there a way to change preferences or an add-on that will remove the box-of-crayons-colors icons and display text menus automatically? I don't use the application often enough to memorize the mouse-over texts. It's tiresome enough dealing with texter's shortcut abortions of the English language these days. I'd rather not have to play a game of…

Need Info  ·  Bhavna Negi responded

Adobe Acrobat and Reader official update containing the fix for this issue is now available. This update will be automatically pushed to all existing installations of Acrobat and Reader.

If you want, you may also manually trigger the update by opening the application and going to Help > Check for Updates.

More information about this release is here:
    https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/ReleaseNotesDC/continuous/dccontinuousoctober2018.html#dccontinuousoctobertwentyeighteen

Please try it out and let us know your feedback.

    Thanks!

  9. I'm trying Acrobat Pro and it seems that the new UI that we can try doesn't allow me to correct OCR by marking something as "not text". With the old UI, you can simply erase the garbage text next to the picture, and press "OK" or whatever, then this part of the document stops being considered as text.

  10. When exporting form data from within an open PDF, the available formats do not include CSV. The ability to export to CSV exists within the feature "merge data files into spreadsheet", this is not convenient in workflows were incremental data is received and needs to be added to an existing list. There should be an option to do this while the file is open. Also suggest adding this to the file - export menu.

  11. Using 13.1. Don't know if this is an Acrobat or an InDesign issue, but recently noticed that if I have text that flows to 2 lines and that has a hyperlink behind it, in Acrobat, the tags show the link as having two Link-OBJR, but they are the reverse of reading order. So if you tab the page, you go from 2nd line of text to first. So,

    'Go to

    the store'

tabs as if it is 'the store' 'go to'. The underlying link is fine--no issue there--it's the tab order and tag order (tag order perhaps then impacting screen…

  14. Text call out tool issue . After commenting on a document , the color of the call out box is changes to blue and this property made "default" through " make current property default " option. This change is valid as long as acrobat pro application remains open . When the application is restarted , the text call out box reverts back to the original properties i.e. white in color . This problem comes for the text call out tool only and other drawings markups retain their set properties even after restarting the application.

  15. KDP/Kindle/Amazon reformats PDFs badly--photos are scattered + mal-sized, text overlaid other text (espec. after photos). Could Adobe put attention on this problem, plz. Editing PDF in Adobe does not solve problem. (Consider: Would creating smaller original PDFs (in Kindle size, for instance) make converting to Kindle, or any small format, more accurate?)

  16. Adobe Pro needs to have a feature to create expandable drop down lists. I have seen it in other products, but it fits well with the PDF Pro.

I would like to be able to create easy drop down check lists, divided by topic, so the user can expand the form in the areas they need. This will reduce time for the customer to have to scroll through the document to find what they are looking for and will increase the functionality of the document.

I would like it to contain a plus box and minus box, so people can…

  18. If I try to type new text in Tibetan font, nothing will type.

I am trying to add text to a pdf when I want to make translation notes, but when I type using the Windows Tibetan keyboard nothing happens. No letters or even spaces come out when I type. This is frustrating.

  19. Holding the Command key (Mac) or Control key (Windows) should allow for selecting/highlighting multiple, separate characters or words within a text field. Similar to how the Shift key can be used to select/highlight a single range of characters.

This would allow easier batch modification, to be used when making many singular characters within a paragraph into subscripts, for instance. Command or Control-selecting each character to be modified then enables the user to only have to click the subscript button once, instead of for each character after highlighting.

  20. It seems that text selection / highlighting improperly applies "word spacing," e.g. after a non-0x20 CID that is just mapped to U+0020 via a ToUnicode CMap. This causes a discrepancy in the actual rendered text and a glyph's highlight / selection box.

Inversely, the text selection calculation might also NOT apply word spacing where it should.

    In more detail:

Section "9.3.3 Word spacing" of the PDF spec says: "Word spacing shall be applied to every occurrence of the single-byte character code 32 in a string when using a simple font (including Type 3) or a composite font that defines code…
