   I was able to create (using 3rd party tool) an icon on my desktop (Win 10) that would let me scan basic "letter, single-sided, auto-color, etc". It would do all the steps and the exit step would prompt for name and folder to save the file. YOU'VE TAKEN AWAY ALL OF THE <ctrl> SEQUENCES SO THIS CAN NO LONGER BE DONE. Plus the scan screen opens to the last settings SO THEY ALWAYS HAVE TO BE REVIEWED because occasionally I need to scan legal or double-sided, etc. Plus the stupid 2017 opens the last file and tries to append to it. NEVER USEFUL (to me).

2. Bug: Adobe Acrobat Pro DC for which I pay money does not work properly i.e. PDFs that DO HAVE at least two layers are never shown.

   Scanned PDFs that are made searchable and editable DO HAVE at least two layers, but my Adobe Acrobat Pro DC does not show the layers when I click on the layers icon. I really want to talk to a human being of the Adobe REAL support team and have this issue fixed - I tried the chatting - it is useless!!! Please give me the opportunity to talk to a real ADOBE support person!!! I pay a lot of money every month and this issue is going on since quite a while!!! I have attached an example of a file I personally scanned and made searchable with adobe tools - this should be two layers one image and one text right?

   As Acrobat keeps building an inscrutable interface to make all useful features disappear, it is now impossible to email direct from Acrobat.

   There used to be an email icon that could be clicked to connect to the default email application so that a PDF could be sent without going through all of the steps of closing Acrobat, opening the mail app, writing a mail, browsing for the file.

   With its continuously degraded interface, Acrobat becomes less user friendly and more obscure. Thanks guys. Maybe instead of AI you shoud talk to human beings about the UX and features. Or maybe you're using A1 instead of AI

   Obviously the Acrobat team does not read or pay attention to these posts.

4. Bug with % symbols in named destinations

   When entering a named destination (for linking to within a PDF), it's impossible to enter a percentage sign ("%", U+0025). The symbol simply disappears from the name once entered.

   It's possible it's being misinterpreted as a formatting specifier in a printf call (or something similar).

   Steps to reproduce:
   1. Open a document and select "Edit PDF"
   2. Click the bullseye-icon in the left-most pane ("Destinations")
   3. Click "Create New Destination"
   4. Type "Bug%Test" and press Enter
   5. Note the result is "BugTest" instead of the expected "Bug%Test"

5. Cannot Combine documents

   I used Adobe Acrobat Pro DC on a Windows 7 64 bit desktop environment.

   I simply select the combine documents icon button, it has me choose either existing open document or add unopened documents. Either way it does not work. When I select open document, it has the one open document and then I need to add the 2nd document to combine, and I select it, those documents never populated the page and thus I cannot move to the next step of clicking on the "Combine" button. This has happened multiple times. I think of asking for a refund and buying a different .pdf product. I have to combine documents for Federal Courts, and if this feature does not work I cannot properly file documents with the Court. This bug must be fixed immediately, otherwise, I have not choice but to move to a different product.

9. Bug:Acrobat aborts when I do File -> Create -> PDF from scanner

   How to invoke crash: Open Acrobat. Select File -> Create -> PDF from scanner. Select "HP Office Pro 8740 TWAIN". Let it scan 2 pages from the document feeder. After the second page has been scanned I get messages "optimizing", "converting to searchable image exact", "optimizing" and then error dialogue "Adobe Acrobat DC has stopped working".

   How to avoid: Open Acrobat. Select Tools -> Create PDF -> Scanner. Select "HP Office Pro 8740 TWAIN". Let it scan 2 pages from the document feeder. Once I have scanned via the Tools menu path, I can scan successfully using the File menu path that failed initially as long as Acrobat is still open. I noted that the "Create" option under the File menu no longer showed the text "Create", just the icon. It did let me pick from he sub options.

   Created case 0189335790 (https://accounts.adobe.com/support/cases/0189335790). Rep was not able to repeat and closed case. Rep tried using "Tools -> Create PDF" first. I was not aware it was sensitive to the menu path at the time.

   Acrobat Pro DC 2017.12.20098, Windows 7 Home (64-bit), and an HP 7740 on Ethernet.

11. Download Arrow for Document Cloud

    If I use Dropbox or OneDrive to share documents with others, either of those cloud storage systems has an obvious download arrow on the initial cloud page After the recipients of my link, click on the link. I don't know why Adobe decided to hide the download arrow behind an ellipsis in its document cloud (at least that's where it is in the doc cloud when accessed on my Mac computer). There's plenty of room on the document cloud menu bar to place all of the features buried under that tiny little ellipsis of three dots. Sometimes I think Adobe needs to a whole new set of UI designers. It would also be wonderful if Adobe would enable the document cloud to display and access portfolios in the same way that you can display them on your computer. Instead, recipient of doc cloud portfolio links are confronted with a huge Adobe icon prompting them to download Adobe Reader or Acrobat (even if they already have one of them), while the location of the portfolio is nearly hidden. Why not make the prompt for downloading Reader or Acrobat much smaller and to the left or right of an image of a page of the portfolio, and concurrently make the download arrow obvious. There is so much about the document cloud and requesting e-signatures that is unfriendly to smooth document workflows. So many roadblocks.

12. Annoying form/instruction bar at top of window is a 10-year-old problem

    Overlay bars that are not easily hidden and may contain conflicts with the actual content of the document have been objected to 10 years ago, and the "Signed and all signatures are valid. Please fill out the following form." banner in blue I found today continues to present basically all of the problems from this thread from 2009-2011 regarding purple bars, including that it is not clear how to hide the bar for easier reading or screen presentation. https://acrobatusers.com/forum/forms-acrobat/how-do-you-remove-purple-instruction-bar/

    Clicking the blue bar almost anywhere does nothing. There are 2 buttons at the right edge... only one of them seems to work. Clicking the small icon at the left edge hides the bar but does not reveal what feature caused it to exist. By accident, and over an hour after after trying and failing to find a preference to get rid of such an offending bar, I found the signing tools in a left-edge expansion menu even though most of the tools and extra features (tools pane) had been on the right-edge. Nothing in the main menu, such as show/hide, gives any hint that there are tools to find in the left menu or whether the tools there may change. All of these factors seem like failures in the User Interface category.

13. Need help deciding how to deploy Acrobat via Patch My PC and Intune

    • All users must have either Reader or Pro

    • About 150 users have a Pro license while 350 do not.

    • Patch My PC detects the following deployed to our devices:
      Adobe Reader DC Continuous MUI 350 installs

    Adobe Reader DC Continuous 250 installs (This is a Update Only MSP file)

    Adobe Acrobat DC Continuous 300 installs

    Adobe Acrobat Pro 250 installs X Trench Run

    I could set some form of Reader as Required on all devices, but I think that may downgrade existing Pro users.

    I could uninstall everything and set some form of Pro as required, then try to suppress the login popup box so unlicensed users don't get nagged to sign in.

    I could just leave the mess as it is and Update Only all of it, but because nothing is set as Required new devices won't have Adobe installed.

    What is the difference between Adobe Acrobat DC Continuous and Adobe Acrobat Pro? They both have the white Pro icon in Patch My PC but they are detected as different installs.

    How do you all use Patch My PC to deal with Adobe? What is the best way to set some form of it as Required for all devices?

14. More view options for the "Add Open Files" screen when using the Combine Files tool

    Frequently I have to combine files that I have opened in Adobe from a scanned version. When using the Combine Files tool, there's an option to "Add Open Files." This feature is super nifty by incredibly vague. Once you select which files you want to be working with, it adds them to a preview screen -- the order of which is the reverse of the order you have the files actually opened within Adobe. A few little changes would make this so much better... 1) Spruce up the file select screen after clicking Add Open Files (it wasn't obvious to me how to use this feature the first time, because all the files show up as highlighted by default. Maybe a nice check box next to each file would be more intuitive). 2) Give me more options in the file preview screen! As previously mentioned, the files automatically get put in reverse order of how they were opened in Adobe initially. For example, I scan three, 50-page sets of documents, and want to make one large PDF from them. I scan the file top-to-bottom as any sane person would, then open the three files. I see the first 1/3rd, then the 2nd, then the last chronologically. I open the files, hit combine, and now it's exactly out of order. I then have to manually rearrange where they are in relation to each other. There should be a setting where you can indicate your preference (add first open Adobe file as the first in the Combine Files tool, or add said file last), AND/OR there should be a icon I can click to reverse the current selection of files. Too many times I have 5+ files that I need to combine that are now backwards and I have to manually move and verify the order back to what it should do by default. This is too long of a post, but I want this feature...

15. Adding audio file to PDF with Adobe Pro DC (Mac OS Catalina version 10.15.1)

    Hello, I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro DC on a recent iMac running OS Catalina version 10.15.1. I'd like to embed a simple and short Audio file. I have the latest version of Adobe Acrobat PRO DC from the cloud. I tried recording a note, that did not work out all. Then I recorded an audio file in Garageband and saved it as an .aif file (I saved it as an .aif file because none of the other formats would load up) and this prerecorded .aif file uploaded from my hard disc into my cursor successfully (I can actually play the file in the little dialogue box with the controls play record stop and when I close this dialogue box and click OK I can see the sound icon has loaded into my cursor) but then frustratingly when I click down to paste the sound file onto the PDF it doesn't paste it. It keeps it loaded up into the cursor. I tried and tried and it is so frustrating as this should be such a simple thing to do! Do you know why this may be happening? is this a bug please? Can it be fixed? I so would like an answer to this! I am frustrated to be paying for the latest software and not be able to do such a simple operation in this day and age and having to come on a forum to find a possible solution. 16. Netgear Router login not working

    Why is the Netgear router login not secure?
    The web access of a Netgear router is encrypted with HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure) to keep the functions of the router secure. When you try to access the login page of the Netgear router, the browser prompts you to verify if the router is secure. The router's self-signed certificates encrypt the data transferred in the domain. When self-signed certificates are present, the router's web access is not secure.

    In Google Chrome:
    Open the Google Chrome browser on your computer and visit the login page of the Netgear router.
    If the security message appears, the connection is not secure or private. Now, select Advanced and then select Continue.
    Choose the unsecured Netgear website.
    Once the router's login page appears, enter the username and password. The default username of the router is "admin" and the password is "password".
    In the address bar, click the red alert icon next to "Not secure."
    On the next screen, select Certificate (invalid), click the Details tab, and choose Copy to file.

    How to find the router login for a Netgear router
    NetGear uses a few different login combinations for its routers. The full list is available here, but we'll give you the gist:

    If you are using a Comcastrouter, try username "comcast" and password: "1234"
    If that doesn't work, try using the combination of "administrator" and "password"
    Alternatively, you can use the password "1234"
    Some routers don't use a username and some don't use a password, so leave one of the boxes blank and try the combinations mentioned above.

17. Clients think documents are signed when they aren't. Interface improvements required.

    Using Adobe Sign today, I also found that the field automation didn't work. The message would show that fields are available, but then when you click the icon to apply the fields, the message would come back that it couldn't find any locations to place a field, totally not recognizing the Signature or date lines requiring manual field placements.

    In the date line options, please add: yyyy-mm-dd - HH:MM:ss
    (required by the Canada Revenue Agency on their T183 Authorization to E-file signature forms). I have to always enter this text manually.

    Also, clients are finding Signing the form confusing. I had several clients today saying that all files are signed, but they aren't. I had to simulate the signature on my end and send them step by step snapshots of the process before they finally got them signed. They thought that once they hit "Finish", they were done, and didn't realize they had to push the "Click to Sign" button. I also found that on a cellphone, if I accidentally swiped the page while trying to finish the signing process, the page would refresh causing me to have to start all over again. I'm guessing this could also make a client think that the document was all signed and submitted! More user feedback is required to help the client recognize the steps to sign their documents. (ie: "Exit without signing" vs "Finish"), place the "Click to Sign" button in a better location so clients see it. Last year, an Adobe Cookie popup at the bottom of the screen blocked that "click to sign" button so the 80+ year old senior citizen client couldn't see it. And with all the computer scams happening these days, people are fearful of pushing buttons they don't understand. I recreated the document on a couple different computers in my house trying to understand why the client was having so much difficulty before encountering that cookie popup on one of my computers. Once that was resolved, the client was able to sign. Simple things to resolve by improving the front end to make things clearer for the client.

18. [Bug] Acrobat Pro 2020 Preflight Droplet Error Text report not being created

    Hello,

    We are using custom preflight droplets with Acrobat XI to perform batch/automated conversion. We are opting to upgrade to Acrobat 2020.
    When creating preflight droplets, there is an option to select an error folder and create an error report in the error folder with specific formats (PDF, XML, Text) on any preflight error.
    For our case, we are using Text format for the error report as it is less verbose (the preflight rules are not listed unlike XML) and easily extractable and logged in a log file (unlike PDF).

    However in Acrobat Pro 2020, it seems that there is a bug in the error report using Text report (no issues in PDF report and XML report), where the error report was not being created. We tried the success Text report and the success report was being created in the success folder. We tried to switch the error and success folders, in the case the error was in the folders, but the success text report is being created properly. We also checked the display a summary PDF option in order to know the exact error report path which is displayed in summary PDF and it is correct. We tried the error PDF and XML reports and they were created.
    We tried replicating the issue using Acrobat built-in preflight profile to see if the issue was in our custom preflight profile but we could also replicate the issue using the Acrobat built-in preflight profile using different files.

    Can anyone confirm officially if this is a bug for Acrobat Pro 2020?

    Steps to reproduce the issue
    1. Create a preflight droplet for the Acrobat built-in "Convert to PDF/A-1a" preflight profile
    (Open Acrobat > Tools > Print Production > Preflight > Options > Create Droplet > PDF Standards | Convert to PDF/A-1a)
    2. Under "on error" check "Create report and save in error folder", and select "Text report" in the "Settings".
    3. Click on "Error folder..." and select the error folder.
    4. Check the last option to "Display a summary PDF ..." so that the results and error report path will be displayed.
    5. Click on "Save" to create the preflight droplet .exe file.
    6. Get a PDF sample which is guaranteed to fail for a PDF/A-1a conversion (e.g. PDF/A-1b sample without mark info / structure info https://tcpdf.org/files/examples/example_065.pdf) and simply drag and drop it on the preflight droplet icon to execute the preflight droplet for the file.

    Environment (OS, other related application versions, etc.)
    Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard, Acrobat Pro 2020 Release (Classic) | Version 2020.004.30017

    Expected Result:
    The text error report (with .txt extension) should be created.

    Observed Result:
    The text error report (with .txt extension) is not created.

19. menues, ribbon and top portion of window goes white and window controls don't work

    I use Adobe Acrobat through my entire Engineering Consulting Business (Bowden engineering Solutions Pty ltd), but I have a bug with Acrobat DC Pro. I am running it on a laptop that has on Windows 10 and a second monitor that is connected with HDMI and positioned above the laptop monitor. The laptop monitor is still selected as the "main display". The bug occurs about 50% of the time when I open an Acrobat file. The Acrobat window maximises on the second monitor and there is a blank portion along the top of the Acrobat window that covers the menus, the ribbon, and the top of the document. The window controls are still visible, but they do not work (i.e. I cannot resize the window). If I unplug the second monitor, then the Acrobat window moves to the monitor on the laptop and works fine there. If I then plug the second monitor back in and drag the Acrobat window onto the second screen it is fine. If I maximise the window, then it is the same chance of the problem re-occurring.

    The bug is intermittent, and I did not get it to reoccur when I was writing this bug report (I tried 5 times to get a screen shot of the bug). So the attached picture is not an exact screen shot of the bug occurring but it is very similar. Note that the Adobe icon and file name should be showing on the top left but that is also missing when the bug occurs.
    I have tried reinstalling Adobe Acrobat and the bug still occurs.

    I digitally sign/approve about 200 documents per month that are created by my staff (about 10 per day) and in that process need to look at several other pdf's, including aircraft manuals, regulations specification etc. In addition to that, I need to work on my own projects (that are issued as pdfs). So, I almost always have several pdf files open in Adobe Acrobat and rely on this software.

    If this is known bug then any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    This report describes multiple regressions introduced by the forced New Acrobat experience that significantly disrupted my workflow and removed essential functionality.
    Description:
    I want to report several issues caused by the forced rollout of the new Acrobat experience. These changes significantly disrupted my workflow and required extensive troubleshooting to restore basic functionality.
    1. Removal of the modification asterisk
    The classic asterisk indicator (showing when a PDF has unsaved changes) no longer appears, even in Classic mode. This is a critical regression. Without it, there is no clear visual confirmation that edits have been registered. The new UI’s Favorites star icon looks similar and adds confusion.
    2. Autosave and recovery behavior is undocumented and inconsistent
    Acrobat no longer uses the traditional AutoSave folder under the user profile. The folder exists but remains empty, even when autosave and recovery are active. Recovery now appears to rely on session metadata rather than autosave files, but this is not documented anywhere. This made troubleshooting extremely difficult.
    3. Forced UI transitions removed essential tools
    Switching between the new and classic interfaces caused annotation and drawing tools to disappear temporarily. The new interface also opened documents in modes that allowed editing but did not mark the file as modified.
    4. No warnings when autosave or modification tracking is inactive
    When Acrobat cannot write to its autosave location, there is no alert or error message. This leads to silent failures that put documents at risk.
    5. Windows user-folder naming confusion worsened the problem
    Windows displays a friendly user name (“Barbara Johnston”) that does not match the actual user folder (“cello”). Acrobat’s error messages did not clarify this, making it extremely difficult to diagnose why autosave was not functioning.
    Impact:
    These issues caused days of lost time and significant frustration. Acrobat is a critical tool for my work, and reliability is essential. The lack of documentation, silent failures, and removal of long standing indicators made the transition unnecessarily difficult.
    Requested improvements:
    • Restore the modification asterisk in Classic mode
    • Provide clear warnings when autosave or recovery cannot run
    • Automatically create required folders (AutoSave, Temp, etc.)
    • Improve transparency around editing modes and document state
    • Avoid forced UI rollouts that remove essential tools
    • Provide documentation for the new autosave/recovery architecture
