How to Lock Form Fields After Signature in Adobe Acrobat?
Hi everyone,
I’m currently working on a fillable PDF form in Adobe Acrobat and I want the form fields to become uneditable after the user signs the document. I’ve tried a few settings, but the fields remain editable even after a digital signature is applied.
Is there a way to automatically lock all form fields once the document is signed digitally? Do I need to use JavaScript for this, or is there a built-in setting I’m missing?
Would really appreciate any step-by-step guidance from someone who’s done this before.
Thanks in advance!

In Adobe Acrobat Pro DC - add a "subtraction" option in the drop-down box in the Text Fields Properties Box. This would be VERY helpful!
Not having a subtraction option in the Text Field Properties reduces the value of the calculate function. The current "workaround" of inputting a negative number to allow for addition is a poor alternative.
4 votesHi Gary
You can either use a custom JavaScirpt calculation or the simplified field notation calculation, if your field names follow the required convention, with the “-” operator you will be able to perform subtraction.
However, we value your suggestion/ideas and we will have the engineering notified. Should we need more information inregard to this, we shall connect with you

form template
I need to send in CMS-1500 forms on a regular basis. I would like a template to be able to do this. The only thing that has to change on the form are some of the dates and payment amounts. Can I use a template, fill in some of the fields, send to sign and then recover the template for the next use.

text selection broken
Acrobat Pro does not always allow the text selection tool to actually select text (in OCR'd or otherwise readable text distilled from a Word doc or whatever). Quitting the app then restarting solves the problem, temporarily, but later the bug returns. There are threads about this on Reddit and other places. I am not able to produce a screenshot because I cannot capture a picture of Acrobat not allowing the selection tool to work.

Cannot update an old form
I don't like the new update so I saw we had the option to switch back to the old version, which I did. It wad working just fine for me. Have you ever heard, 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'? I only want to update a date I added at the top of the page, but now we CANNOT change the size of the text box even in the old version. So when I try to make the update, it changes more of the text that I want it to and screws up the top of the document.

Bug: LiveCycle Designer form not showing up in Acrobat Pro 2019.012.20036
Since the update from 2019.012.20035 to 20036 I cannot even view a PDF-Form created in LiveCycle Designer on Acrobat Pro Win any longer. Also the DataMatrix-Field that worked perfect with 20035 is not updating in Adobe Reader (where I CAN display the form!!!). On a Mac with same version visibility of the form YES, but also no updates of DMC on both Pro and Reader. This must be fixed very soon!

Take creative cloud link out of Acrobat bottom right window
Please take out the creative cloud link in the bottom right window. Every time I try to resize a window from the bottom right or roll over to the scroll bar it clicks the link. I do know what my plan is and do not need to link to it every time I use acrobat. Thank you.

Read-only fields selectable in PDF form
When creating a form in Acrobat Pro DC, fields set to be read-only and locked can still receive focus while they should be skipped and their contents be unselectable. This happens even when the PDF is saved as Reader Extended with "enable more tools", regardless of whether the resulting PDF is opened in Acrobat Pro or Adobe Reader (DC)

Selecting text in comments is absolutely maddening.
I use annotated pdfs all day every day to get client edits and apply them in InDesign. I can't tell you (but I will attempt to try) how maddening it is to simply copy text from a comment box to paste into InDesign. Why can I not simply select the text?! I have to double click on the text that I want to copy, which opens a white box around the text. If I then double click again to select the text (without moving the cursor) it closes the box without copying the text! Instead of simply…

Text recognition should not be automatic
When I click, "edit PDF" adobie automatically tries to recognize all the text on the document.
It fails and shreds the text into what looks like hieroglyphs.
Why is this the default?
I just want to add a picture, why is it forcing me to recognize all the text in my document?

Request E-Signatures: Date Field cannot be set to required
Bug: there is no way to make the date field required on Adobe desktop through Request E-Signatures tab.
While the name, title, etc. fields are automatically set to required, the date field isn't. Unlike the text field, there is no option to make it required, either.
See attached screenshot.

Please create circle text boxes
I have created a PDF that has a circle in the middle for ideas. The user is to fill in their ideas and input text in the center of this circle. However, there is no circle text box option available in Acrobat. I have to lay a square text box over the circle which looks unattractive and odd. I'd love to be able to type text inside of a circle in Acrobat for more creative design of PDFs. Thank you!

Text replacements
Mac OS offers the option of using text abbreviations to insert several words or entire sentences (text replacements). For example, "#--" becomes "delete hyphen". Acrobat used to understand and implement these abbreviations. Since the version from December 2023, this no longer works. Please restore the function.

Hindi OCR and text recognition
Please include Hindi text recognition while editing hindi pdf documents or exporting to MS word or RTF format.
There is a huge market requirement for this feature and we are struggling with it currently.

Ability to copy over all form fields created into one PDF into another PDF
Ability to copy over all form fields created into one PDF into another PDF. For example, an application packet that one would make into a fillable form, then - since many application packets have the same blanks and check box spots, be able to pull all the same fields from one state's application packet to another state's packet.

pdf signature fields for Adobe Sign
A suggestion for Adobe. It would be so great if pdf signature field properties could be configured to include the signatory's email address, or could be scripted to pull an email address entered in a text field in the same form, so that when the form is uploaded to Adobe Sign it already has signature fields with email addresses, and is ready to send for signatures. without having to type in email addresses and place signature fields. That would be a terrific option.
