  3. I have already reported the fact that, when installing or updating Adobe Acrobat (which happens rather often), the program icon in the Windows menu is incorrect. I know how to bypass the problem by creating manually the good icon, but each time Acrobat is updated, this bad icon reappears (see screenshot).

    This is a VERY long lasting bug. So please, fix it!!!

    Hi,

    Could you please try the following steps and let us know if the issue is resolved:

    • Delete Adobe Acrobat icon from the Start Menu, the desktop and from the taskbar.
    • Go to C: > ProgramData > Microsoft > Windows > Start Menu > Programs and you’ll find the " Adobe Acrobat DC " with the wrong icon. The that looks like a shortcut. Delete it and close the window.
    • Go to C: > Program Files (x86) > Adobe > Acrobat DC > Acrobat and find Acrobat.exe
    • Right click on Acrobat.exe > Send to > Desktop
    • Right click again on Acrobat.exe > Pin to Start Menu… and close the window
    • Right click on Acrobat.exe – shortcut (that you just created on your desktop) > Copy
    • Go back to: C: > ProgramData > Microsoft > Windows > Start Menu > Programs… and Paste the…

  4. The AI features are garbage and no-one asked for them. They are intrusive, in the way, slow down the app, and I have not found a single use for them in the many hours I spend on the app. Even though I have deselected the AI popups, they still keep coming up. Either remove AI completely, or give us the option to disable it (and actually do it!).

  5. Get your fingers out of my business. I pay the full price to use your software. So stop shoving pop-ups for new functions and other services in my face. I'm trying to work here. I'm not here for fun, and I sure as **** am not here for YOU. It's supposed to be the other way around. You're supposed to be the industry leader; act like it or I'll find another provider. They'll still push pop-ups in front of me, but they'll charge half the price for it. You should be ashamed.

  6. I very intentionally do not have "Enable generative AI features in Acrobat" checked in my Preferences. For security reasons, I can't use AI in my work, nor do I want to. This appears to be the only place I can indicate my choice not to use Adobe's AI features.

    However, I still have:
    1) a pop-up pushing AI every time I open Adobe;
    2) a bright flashy button at the top of my screen pushing AI;
    3) now when I highlight a word the popup with editing tools ALSO includes an "ask AI assistant" option.

    This is incredibly distracting when…

  7. Your new "internet/mobile friendly" interface being forced on desktop users is bad customer service. It makes me seriously consider using/purchasing a competitor's product and never coming back to Adobe.

  8. I can share files located in the adobe document cloud, but can't share folder or tree of folders with files. Please consider adding the sharing option for a folder or tree of folders with files in the adobe document cloud.

Using Windows 10 Home Version 1909 OS Build 18363.657, when I have a PDF file or multiple PDF files open in Reader DC, and when I close the tab of a file and then try to do something with that file in Windows Explorer, such as rename or delete or move or change it any way, I cannot do so because Windows 10 thinks there is still a lock on the file and throws a pop-up dialog that says to "Close the file and try again." The only way I can get the lock released is by closing Reader DC…

    Hi,

    Sorry for the issue that you are facing here.

    Do you have Windows Explorer Preview turned on in your explorer window ? If yes, can you please try after switching the windows explorer off and see if that works fine ?
    Also Try to close the explorer window and then try and then try to do any operation on that file in a different exporer window
    Let me know further.

  10. under MacOS Mojave 10.14.4 (18E226) in Acrobat Pro version 2019.010.20098 when we try to perform run a preflight fix (generate 2 mm bleed), Acrobat can't do it telling there was an error but not showing what error. The same fix applied on the same file using the same version of acrobat works perfectly under MacOS 10.11.6 - We tested it on different machines with the latest version of MacOS and Acrobat.

  11. Allow the setting of maximum font size for a field when creating a fillable form. This will prevent huge text in a field if there is a small amount of text but would still allow text to reduce in size automatically to fit within the field if needed.

  12. I always used the tick box while reviewing, using a filter so that comments I processed also disappeared. It was an easy and intuitive way of editing the source text with the help of the comments in the PDF. After the last update, the tick box is gone and now hidden. You have to click the dots in the top right corner of the comment, then select 'Set status' and then click the status. That's THREE clicks instead of one. NOT user friendly, NOT intuitive, NO improvement. Please give me back my tick box!

  13. I just installed Acrobat Pro DC and the it keeps shutting down after running only 10-20 seconds. I can occasionally open a file quickly enough, but after opening file, Pro DC then shuts down. Went through Adobe troubleshooting (checked updates, Distiller, repair installation), but problem persists. Note that I did NOT set Pro DC as my default program for PDF files. My original Acrobat Pro XI is running fine.

  14. Please pay attention to those of who are asking to have the AI feature stop intruding into our work. Actions (in this case inaction) speak louder than words, and you are telling me very clearly to stop using adobe, because you insist on imposing "AI" on me at every step. Given the demonstrated problems with hallucinations in AI, your are offering is a threat, not a bonus.

  15. Who at Adobe thought that it would be a good idea to have a floating toolbar that the user cannot dock, cannot flip horizontally, and, critically, cannot choose to hide? It blocks readable document content and is very annoying.

  16. I need a way to administratively disable generative AI company-wide.

    Adobe has decided to launch generative AI in its new Acrobat beta. The announcement email indicated that to administratively disable generative AI for a team, that I must contact customer service. What????

    Customer Service tells me the only way to disable generative AI is to deploy the following registry setting, which obviously is a terrible way to manage a product:

    HKLM/Software/Policies/Adobe/AdobeAcrobat/Beta/FeatureLockdown

    Create a Dword- bEnableGentech

    Set the registry value= 0

  17. The new version is horrible. I spend more time looking for where you hid basic menu items than I spend viewing files. Return to the old interface. It was kind of kludgy but no where as bad as this new one.

  18. The "Remember Current State of Tools Pane" option under Preferences...Documents never actually remembers anything. I close the annoyingly huge tools pane every single time I open a PDF, and every single time it comes back again.
    You forced me to "upgrade" to this version of Acrobat Reader, and it drives me insane. There was a reason I installed the old reader with the simple interface that worked.
    win10 home 22H2, reader version 2023.001.20174, but I'm pretty sure this has been a problem for as many versions as I can remember.

  20. Closing a comment with the Esc key deletes text entered into the comment.

    Details:

    System: Windows 10 Enterprise 64-bit Build 19042
    OS-Language: German
    Application Language: German
    Acrobat DC / Acrobat Reader DC Version: 2022.001.20142

    Steps to reproduce

    1. Open PDF; PDF:X4 created with InDesign CC 2022 (17.3) using placeholder text generated by InDesign
    2. Open commenting toolbar
    3. Select text or place cursor
    4. Start writing ("lorem ipsum")
    5. Hit "Esc" key

    Expected Result: Comment gets closed and text input is saved

    Actual Result: Comment gets closed and only the first keystroke ("l") is saved

    The same error can be observed for all commenting tools,…
